My engine management light came on(2.0 FSI) so I carried out a diagnostic & came up with the fault code: P0404 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Control Circuit - Range/Performance

I removed the top casing of the EGR valve & found the cog which had two snapped teeth on it:( I even recovered the broken teeth from within the casing. Some pics of my discovery:

Is there anyway to replace just the plastic cog or do I have to replace the whole unit(£££)?

Thanks in advance for any help:)

Unfortunately the cog is not a replacement part and the whole unit must be replaced.

Part number is (or should be) 06F 131 503 B

Audi dealer price is £206.66 but may be cheaper elsewhere.

Sorry !!!

Thanks for the info:)

Is the price including VAT?

Any idea on labour costs to fit? Hours?

change it yourself. its not rocket science!

Please can you post another pic of the location, had my car scanned and it showed the EGR valve fault

Mine did exactly the same thing a few years back. I bought one off of Eurocarparts, it was £189 at the time IIRC. There are a couple on Ebay but you run the risk of the same thing happening on a valve of the same age. Stupid idea using plastic teeth! Its not a hard job, just a slightly awkward bolt to get to on the underneath.
