The A3 TDI is close on 7 years old now. Been looking at A3 SB,s in particular the S3.

I know the fuel is going to be a bigger outlay but on the whole will the driving experience swing it ?

The TDI is already chipped & i am used to the buzz that a diesel just cant give.

Has anyone else taken the plunge & swapped over from one to the other

The one im looking at is 2 years old with nearly every extra offered

If you can afford the extra cost in petrol go for it, i know i would!

Yes mate the fuel is a bit easier now that i,m office based.

I get a car allowance so that covers the loan.

& i claim milage if i go out to look at jobs

I,m buzzing now as i need to go look at one. I had the loan approved & its sat there

Been offered £6000 for the TDI which is a little less than i wanted but hopefully i can strike a deal

DO IT! I came from a mapped 170 to the S3. Not looked back. Yes the economy won't get close to the TDi, but where I live V-Power is cheaper than regular diesel! So fuel bills won't be more expensive, just more regular. :racer:

Things I 'miss' (not really miss, but you get the picture) about the TDi, was the economy and the massive amount of torque it chucked out.

It's nice to be in a car that has the rev range again! The power is in a different league to the TDi, and it's just as torquey too. Then again I have the S3 mapped. But you'll only do the same if/when you get an S3 anyway

My wife had a mapped Ibiza TDi FR and yes it was decently quick (about 170PS), but it just never stirred my soul. Respect the torque, love the economy, but if you have enough disposable income that you wont have to go without something to do it then a high performance petrol engine is a lot of fun. In and around town the diesel was probably nigh on as quick, but on a decent bit of road it couldn't touch the S3 for thrills.

Drivings an expensive hobby, so make the most of it before we're all hooking up to the mains!

Cheers all. And i wont need to program the bluetooth Warren :)

Anyway my giddyness has been somewhat quashed as the one i was looking at is at a dealers that has a big NO NO on the web.

Fantastic spec but the web says dont touch with a big pole.

Damn it........I have looked for a similar spec but cant find one to match the price which i assume is for a reason..grrrrrr

Go to Audi dealers, tell them you have 'x' to spend and tell them to source you a car. They may rather have a customer for some commission than not at all. Just because there is a screen price doesn't mean it's the law!

thats what I did my budget was 25k however they constantly wanted to sell me a brand new car! I said no million times but eventually they come back to me with an offer that couldnt be rejected.

Sometimes all things considered like finance rates and discounts it can actually cost you less each momth to go for a new one especially if you have a large deposit and buy via PCP, worth looking into at least ?!?

If not be patient your next car is probably just on the horizon :)
