Hi Guys,

I found something out which i want to share with everyone, this will help others who want to install cruise and MFSW.

now as alot of you know when you want to install Cruise and MFSW you need a compatible steering control module. As far as we have found the part number 8P0 953 549 F is the one to go for.

now after trawling the internet I have found another part number that got my attention so i thought i would test it out...
8P0 953 549 E

On ETKA it shows this part number to be superseded with the F rev part, It seems that this part came out sometime around 2004/2005 when the first MFSW were around, its a rare part number to come across and mostly cars with the early 8P DSG models have it.

I have got hold of one and tested it on my own car which does have cruise and MFSW and once plugged in and coded it works perfectly.

So for anyone looking around for a steering control module to do their MFSW install you can also try and see if you can locate one of these to do the job for you.

hope this helps :)

Good find Ash, i am sure there will be lots of people happy with your research and module testing and now be able to do this mod fairly hassle free. Someone should set up a sticky with all these useful part numbers on the site for future reference to save everyone asking the
same questions over and over again.

well done brother

Just installed my new FBMFSW and can confirm that part number 8P0 953 549 K also works with multifunction. That streering control module was factory fitted to my MY2011 Sportback with Cruise and DSG.

K is fitted to all new cars now, so supports all features, but K will not support pre 09 cars, there are technical issues related to this.

As Nigel said, hope your A3 isn't a pre-09 as you may find your full-beam doesn't work.

Worked on an A3 last week with an 'E' module. First one I've seen before and I'm coming close to working on 100 8P's so its certainly a rare one.

It was strange that it was fitted as it was a 4-spoke SE with no spec at all...

Worse things to worry about than raised beam mate, good luck finding the steering angle sensor that fits that module lol.

Thread revival I have just managed to get one of these rare steering ecu's with the slip ring for only £40 delivered bargain lol

Hi I have S3 2007 (57 plate) and just added cruise control. My car already have MFSW and cruise control works as well, but I have steering wheel angle error G85 and don't have any readings from it, so is it incompatible one? Or did I just not connect something during retrofit?

Did you refit the angle sensor or just refit it badly.

In order to dot a new stalk you have to remove the slip ring, steering module & the angle sensor is under that, something's been disturbed, I suspect bent pins.

Probably I will take steering wheel out again tomorrow and check it and take some pictures, so I can check what I have done wrong. Do you know where is the plug for angle sensor located? is it on slip ring itself?

Oh and another thing, is it possible that my car doesn't have this sensor? As before i thought about activating fog lights as cornering lights, but it wasn't available..?
