Brake problems

Hi all,

I have recently changed the front brake pads. Not a hard job, about an hour to do it.

But since than I seem to be having massive brake fade, and no braking power at all, and when I look at the brake pads they look like they are wearing at an angle rather than flat against the disc. If pics are required I can post....

The brake pads are the ones with the ears on them to hold them in and they also have wear indicators, they were exactly the same as the ones I took off.....

Can anyone help.....

Did you clean the parts where the pads slide on the carriers? They could be rusted/full of dust jamming the pad at an angle.

Bit of an update. Had a look, and it appears that I have got to learn a lesson here.

Don't leave the top off your brake fluid reservoir...

Got to get the brake bleed kit back from the bro-in-law and drive nice and steady until I've bled them and changed the fluid.

Can't believe I've done that.....

You wouldn't believe how many times I've changed brake pads in my time and I've never done that....

Another update, when I took a closer look, the pad wasn't wearing at an angle at all, it was just the shape/form of the braking material.

Leaving the cap off has just let air into the system and left my brakes a little spongy....

could of been worse in my time ive picked up a poor brake effieciency on a MAN artic which had been done 3-4days before..... Driver said they feel poo and he's really stepping on them so when i ivestigated a little further i found the rear brake pads fitted backwards so the metal was on the disc ???? wtf........

I still agree with the others that your pads may be sticking.Fluid attracts water not air and it takes time.Still a good idea to change the fluid
