Has anyone tried the Polarg bulbs in the interior light fittings? If they are 10W as opposed to the normal 5W I'm wondering if they would be too bright for interior use.

Hey Dan, do you not fancy trying the LED bulb sets from EM Tuning (T8ups) for your interior? I ordered a set from him last night and the beauty is they won't cause any DIS errors and have a very low power draw. xx

I hear what you're saying but I always have this niggling worry at the back of my mind regarding LEDs in terms of will they fail/overheat/fit/error. This is not based on any specific supplier or personal experiences, just forum threads over the years. Call it fear of the unknown.

I guess I'm old fashioned and with bulbs I know what I'm dealing with!

I got the full kit from T8rups last week, only got to put in sidelights(to match Diamond vision), interior dome and map lights, totally modernised the car!

Looks more 2011 than 2007 without looking like a christmas tree like some 2012 Audi DRL!

Ok... I bought the same LEDs. I thought they were a bit bright but like Warren have really come to like them

Oh heck I'm sure they are too bright to be on the public highway. I think plod would say they could add confusion to following drivers thinking they are another car or bicycle coming towards them. When I get some free time (quite hard with a 6 month baby) I'm helping Trups develop some LEDs.

Nothing wrong with that, Dan. Best to stick with what you know, sometimes. xx

hi All,

i have put the order in for 50 pairs of these, i have been told they will take a week to make and get here, as soon as they are in i will test them in an Audi and make sure they are the ones what you are buying and then i can get a paypal link put up for the remaining members who didnt manage to order from the other seller before.

Thanks
Trups

They will look awesome on my white paintwork

Love them, absolutely perfect.
(Shot was taken during the day in my underground garage, some natural light)
Much better than the LED's I had on my old A3, they look OEM.

My opinion of these super bright LEDs is that they don't look factory/OEM.
Audi would never release a car with the whole back end lit up.

Are these the LED or the halogen? These look the best that i have seen

These are the Halogen Polarg M28 B1 Hybrid Bulbs, the same as listed in the original post of this thread. They are lovely and pure white - with no hint of blue, unlike the cheaper Ebay ones listed elsewhere in the thread - and as you can see - they are bright enough to light up the whole reg number, but do not light up the whole rear end of the car and the floor, like the LED's. xx

Just seen the following on a golf gti forum. Apparently this happened to a few people.

"I'm actually in a similar situation, I purchased a set of the "Polarg B1 Hybrid" bulbs approx 6-8 months ago for my license plate (also tinted blue bulbs), I had them on for no problem. A couple days ago, when I wanted to switch from the blue bulbs to led(with resistors), I found out that the upper part of the housing (contact point to the hatch) was melted. Worried there might be a problem, I switched back to stock bulbs, but then both sides don't turn on and computer gives me a warning. "

the polarg's are 10w,

if you look at my post the ones i had sent to me are 5w which are what you get as stock from the factory, they do look dimmer but give the white glow which is what everyone is after.

when i asked about the 10w from the factory they told me about the heat issues which is why i went for the 5w which hence the price of my upgrade are ALOT cheaper and due to the forum demand i dont want to charge a lot as its you that keep me going and enjoying what i do.

Thanks
Trups

Thanks Trups,

Just fitted mine, speedy delivery. I shall take a photo when it's dark and the car isnt blathered in M1 muck!

I love my LED's now :) Even though my car is poorly. Ha.

Before I opted for the Polarg's I did a fair bit of forum homework and for every post reporting any sort of problem with the bulbs, there were another 2 or 3 reporting no probs and that the bulbs lasted for 3 - 4 years. It's like everything, sometimes people have issues with stuff failing and going wrong and most people have none. There are a few posts on here from people who fitted LED bulbs to their number plate lights (no problems whatsoever with any of the bulbs supplied by our man Trups, may I add!) and even the LED's have melted bulb housings in some cases. You fit any mod to your car and you take your chances.

I checked my Polarg's today as I drive with my tail lights on all the time (and therefore my number plates are lit permanently when the engine is running) and the bulbs and housings are as good as new (PHEW!), but if peeps who haven't bought these already want to err on the side of caution, then I'd advise them to buy from Trups as his are lovely and white (not blue like some posted in this thread) and they are 5W like the OEM bulbs, ..not to mention a darn sight cheaper than what I paid to import my Polarg's, lol!!! xx

Your poor car, Dude :(. Hope it all gets fixed for you soon. I've got a set of the LED plate lights sitting on my desk, ..was going to fit them today when I was checking my bulb housings, but then it started to tip it down with rain. Will try again next week and see how I like them  xx

Well when the rain stopped, Hattie having an afternoon nap, I grabbed my buckets and washed the car.

Now it's shiney again so here's the promised photo from my iPhone 4.

Huge thanks to Trups, for a prompt delivery, faultless service & product. These lights look perfect against my ibis white gleaming paintwork.

Looks amazing Dude! They look every bit as good as the Polarg's, for sure! Trups, you is da Bulb King!! xx

Aww Grimp, the same thing happened to me, first time I swapped out the plate light bulbs. The screws Audi supply seem to be made of chocolate and if you even point a screwdriver at them they strip all by themselves, lol! I had to drill out the whole unit using a Dremel multi tool, ..was a PITA of a job!! I bought some M3 15mm hex headed screws in the end to make sure the same thing would never happen again. Unfortuantely Audi don't sell the screws separately from the light units, ..think I paid around £11 for a replacement unit. xx

Just to update on my Polargs, they melted both housings a little. I only noticed because 1 went out.
I'm back to the originals now and ordered some cheap ebay(5w) ones. Anyone else had any problems? can't see how they could be fitted incorrectly or anything.

Argh, this is bad news.
Think I need to go and check mine.

T8ups, do you have the 5W ones still?
How much including shipping to Aust?

Sorry to hear about your Polarg's Eddy, that's not good :(. I ended up putting mine back in last month after deciding that the LED's were too bright for my liking. I am checking them every time I check the oil and tyre pressures and so far - touch wood - there are no probs. I think it's the luck of the draw with these, some people have probs with them and others have them in for years without issue. xx

Will these fit / work on my 2011 black edition? and if so have you got any left?
