We are friends with a local traffic officer and he said that the only car he couldn't catch was an RS4. I'd be interested to see this too

It's repeated on Channel 5 Thursday 19th at 7pm, then the new series continues Monday 23rd at 8pm.

Its on the channel 5 website on demand too. Its a silver s3 8P3 driven by a sergeant iirc. It appears only in the background but the bit where the unmarked blue impreza pulls a daewoo over and again after an officer is given back up about a big guy driving a passat.

Hmm can you tell me which episode on demand 5 it is?

Hee hee! That reminds me of what finally decided me on an S3. I was watching an old Police Interceptors with the Essex force on it. The coppers were in an Evo hiding away in a layby when a car went past rather sharpish. Copper gave chase but this car really gave the Evo a decent run for its money on twisty roads.
When they finally caught up with the lad he was legit, but had bought his S3 earlier that day & was simply out for a trial run in it...

Got mine pretty soon after that...:whistle2:

...back on track - I'd noticed the S3 in the background on this weeks edition. I'm not usually up for silver S3s, but it looked okay...

I can remember that one as well - was very late at night?

There was also a more shocking one on BBC's Traffic Cops last year(?) where a stolen 8L S3 was barrel rolled across a roundabout. The thief/driver was dead at the scene. As it was very late at night and driver had no id, the police assumed it was the owner. They went to his address to find him in bed - he didn't know he'd been broken into to get the keys and his car had been stolen.

Have just driven past an unmarked silver S3 on the A1 past Grantham

Sneaky plods rolling in s3s now! Our police round here are mainly on white volvos and some BMW estates. I was speaking to a police mechanic years ago and he said they used to remap their cars then, I wonder what they do to them now

That guy posted up in the 8L section after that program was aired. He was getting so much grief from his insurance company and the police still had his car impounded!

Yes fella - it was late at night. After they'd hauled the guy around the road a bit the cops realised it was his car he was driving like it was stolen!

I do remember that one on the 8L S3 as well - wasn't it in S Wales - Cardiff way? Really bad tale that - the car was in bits...

I wish I could remember as much about my work as I do of cop / car shows...

A friend of mine had an ex police Cavalier GSI 2000 Turbo, im talking more than 10 years ago and he got it from them, with Full S/S Exhaust, performance Air Filter and already remapped!!

Oh and also recently saw an unmarked Black Focus ST in Warwick with a Mountune badge on the back of it, I was behind him going through a 40 zone, which then turned into an NSL road, as soon as we got on there, he was gone!!!

Why is it that the Police need an Audi S3 or a BMW, Since it is tax payers money surely it would be more cost effective to stick with brands such as Vauxhall??

In addition to any performance reasons, it's the cost of ownership rather than the base cost of the car. The Vauxhall or Ford may be £5k cheaper initially, but it will probably be worth next to nothing when the police get rid of it. Conversely a premium brand vehicle will always retain value come resale time.

Noticed that North Yorks have recently acquired a few A4's in both saloon and estate, marked and unmarked...

I've seen these scoobys in a drugs bust at the Kings Highway pub just out of derby centre. Two scruffs in a BMW dealing to an undercover, next minute, they are surrounded. Was quite an entertaining way to end dinner, plus some nice motors to drool over :p
