Hi everyone!

Right, so finally I've got myself an a3! Its been along wait, and to be honest being 18 never actually thought I'd be able to afford the insurance. But still I've found insurance and the right car, so I'm here.. already getting far too many ideas about mods for the car eek!

Bit of car history.. When I was learning I bought myself a Subaru Impreza 2.0 n/a which I loved to bist! Fast and at the time I could afford the insurance (only £1500 (cheap for a 17 year old!)). But once I passed my test the insurance went up to over £7k! So I sold my subaru to my mum and found the cheapest car to insure, a classic vw beetle! It couldn't of been more different than the subaru, but still it's given me a years motoring giving me my no claims. Now though the bugs up for sale, doing more miles now I needed something cheaper to run, and hence why I am here! :sm4:

The A3 is 2003 reg, 140 tdi and has just over 80k on the clock. Already I've got plans of lowering it, sline front and rear, my11 rear lights, rs4 reps etc..

Since getting it on wednesday I've washed it twice, so yeah, I'm hooked aha!

If anyone is local to Ipswich or Colchester it'd be good to get a meet going or something if there isn't already.. And if anyone has a clue about detailing and paint correction I could really do with being taught, as the only thing thats letting the car down at the moment is all the small scratches around the car.

Anyway thats me, and hopefully you'll be hearing a lot more from me in the near future :icon_thumright:

Cheers mate! I've had a good look through both your Facebook page and your a3 thread and must admit I'm impressed by both! If you were closer to me I'd be asking you to correct my paintwork.. but if I remember rightly you're in south wales? I'm sure I'll be starting a build thread before too long :)

Good colour, and welcome to the fold!

Cheers buddy! Was having a good read through your s3 build thread earlier, not jealous at all!

Welcome to ASN. Hope you enjoy the forum.

Thanks everyone! Yeah she sure is a beauty. That picture was when I bought her in '10 she looks even better now, just a shame she's up on the bay :ermm:

Cheers mate! Had my first problem today (joy..), 2 weeks into my ownership. Nothing major just the emissions light came on, ironically as I was passing the Audi dealership in Ipswich.. Popped in to ask what the light meant as my manual wasn't in the car, and they couldn't of been less helpful! After they said it would be £75.00 to do the diagnostics, I asked to see a manual so I knew what the symbol meant and whether I could drive the car or not... The lady replied "we don't have any manuals", I perplexed asked once again, to which her response was the same.... So the Audi main dealer in Ipswich I have concluded is 100% useless and 100% rip off merchants!

Instead I got the AA to come out, they diagnosed it as the 'Engine coolant temperature sensor 2 circuit high' - P2185. I've got in touch in with the garage I originally bought it from and they've been very good and offered to replace the sensor free of charge. They're also going to try and find where oil is leaking from.. I have noticed I have a very slow oil leak! Any common places for them to lose oil from? I'm a bit concerned as it was only serviced the other week!

Cheers Fran :) I'm normally spend a couple of weeks in the summer down at a family members in Fishguard.. Don't know where you are in relation to there? I'll certainly be in touch, I could do with advice on a beginners detailer kit or something. I have a few faint scratches from keys and bushes which I think could be removed as they're not deep, only thing thats putting me off is the thought of burning my paint!

we are based around south wales area fishgaurd is west wales but could always work something out i suppose eh could drop off the car on the way through sort of thing lol , for beginners i recommend getting a DA polisher as they are more forgiving so burn through is less likely with them , rotarys on the other hand are aggressive so can burn thorough in seconds in the wrong hands , easy to do everybody has done it , take a look at our website/facebook page for some of our work we have done
