Ash tray and gear surround done today. Plan to get them back in the car tomorrow and see how she's looking.

Tim you ever get stuck on sleeping policemen with after you've lowered it?

I wanted to lower mine but I still need it quite practical and at the minute airs just not a viable option for me

Good lad - if it looks good I may put all mine back in and sell the S3 stuff :)

It does look better than I thought it might. The hardest most time consuming bit I found was at the right angles, but these will be hidden anyway when installed anyway. Just hope the sticky holds up under the cold and heat when in the car as I didn't use any permanent spray to stick it down.

Funny thing was when I wrapped the gear surround and cig tray, I didn't consider the pattern direction as I was doing it watching TV so not really paying attention, but after I'd done them they flukily matched up exactly

No, mines a TDI and has a surprisingly high engine/sump compared to other VAG models I've lowered, which leaves decent clearance even when decked. When I'm 2+ up & over policemen it scrapes the little plastic winglet things that poke out near the rear wheels, but that's it.

Sounds like coilovers are perfect for you, you just raise it up a bit if it becomes an issue.

Interior refitted.

Forge Big Knob Added. Matches the other Matt Alu bits perfectly.

Very nice, inside and out.

I think the wheels suite the car really well. Never looked twice at them before but im a fan of these.

Cheers Fran & N8.

I think the 5's suite 3 drs well. Actually I've been looking around quite a bit lately for something different wheel wise, but other than expensive splits I'm struggling to find anything I prefer

Fitting a set of the Jom coilovers on my a3 2.0 TDI Sline soon, just purchased them this evening. So I guess there going to hav to go right down to get a nice ride height :D

S3 side skirts to go on and it will complete the full s3 replica TDi with Remap! Can't wait for the day she's finished! :D

So been playing about the last few weeks as had some free time.

New mirror covers. These are actually Avus silver, so a bit darker than the normal RS colour mirrors

Gloss black grille. Wrapped by me in vinyl which went 'ok' for my first attempt. Corners are a ****** to do! For anyone doing this for the first time I suggest doing it in sections rather than using one piece of vinyl. Cut cleanly you cant see the joins unless you are very very close. Jury is currently out on whether I prefer black or chrome?

Picked up some FK's for more lows. Helpers will not be fitted! Should get these on over the next week hopefully

Oh, and a random pic from a while back which reminds me, I fitted some 215/40 all round for a bit more clearance in preparation for the FK's

That's it for now ...

I bought it from a forum member for £5 :) I think he bought it complete with the gear knob and didn't need the gaiter!

I've got rid of the Forge knob and gone back to OEM now. Was too cold in the winter!

Got the front coilovers fitted today, not had time to do the rears yet though. Needed new top mounts as one of mine fell apart and the bearings went everywhere, which wasn't a welcomed additional cost!

JOM's will be for sale soon

looks good tim :) how easy was it to remove the gaiter and knob? Any tips would be great.
Looking forward to seeing this on the new coilovers

Cheers

Open ash tray, pull 'up' the gear surround at the ash tray end (just clips in with some robust clips). Pull up the handbrake end then lift over the knob. Prise open the clip holding the gear knob on and off it comes. Easy!

Hoping to get the rears coils done tomorrow

Well got the FK's on. As planned fitted with no helpers up front, currently 2.5cm of thread left to go! Lots of room to play :)

Couple of new little changes. Again, nice and cheap!

Brushed Aluminium grille surround (got bored of the black quite quickly) ...

And some 5K dipped beam bulbs and matching LED sidelights. Wish I had taken a before pic as these look so much better than the standard yellow bulbs! Lets hope they last and don't melt and start smoking like the set I had that came with the car

Headlights look sweet! What bulbs you gone for an where'd you get em? I'm after a similar look.

Not usually a fan of 8P1's but yours is definitely an exception, lovely car.

How do you rate the FK's compared to the JOM's?

Slightly more comfy perhaps considering how low I have them, but not huge amounts in it.
