16 inch steel rims on Black Edition?

Does anyone know if you can put 16inch 205 on A3 Black edition, sportback 2.0TDI - normally has 18 inch wheels on with 225.

Need some for winter tyres abroad!

so long as they fit over you brakes yeah should be fine mate , also need to have the right some tyres on too so whatever the equivalent is of the oem cars with 16" wheels

Thanks for replies - do you know if brakes are bigger than norm A3 on black edition? (Dont have a clue about cars - im trying to find this out for other half and Im a "lady"!)

140 or 170?

They are 'regular' size and should be fine. The golf GTI came with 16's as standard and had 312mm brakes (same as a 170 tdi).

If you vehicle is the Audi A3 2.0 TDi 140, here are the official tyre sizes that fit your vehicle :

205 55R16 91W
205 55R16 91V
225 45R17 91Y
225 45 R17 94Y
225 40R18 92Y

Any chance of a pic? I'm not sure whether I'd ever do it (steelies on my A3 would probably upset me too much) but I'd like to have a frame of reference.

Holy thread resurrection Batman!

Although the horrid weather is coming to an end, the sheer awfulness of my A3 in the snow has once again prompted me to wonder whether it's worth investing in a set of steelies and winter tyres for the next time.

Question I have is what type of 16" steel wheel do I need? Obviously the bold/stud pattern has to be right for the A3 but presumably also the right offset so they don't stick out too far yet clear the calipers etc.

Ive got vag steelies with bridgestone all weather tyres on for sale. They where fitted to my 2011 A3 140 black edition. Reason for selling I've fitted S3 brakes so don't think they will fit now.
