Problems with Xenons

Well I'm in the middle of doing an 8P1 to 8P2 facelift and I bought a set of single xenon headlights off Ebay.

I haggled and got them a lot cheaper than they were advertised so the seller sold me them out of eBay (probably a stupid idea for me)

The problem is I've got the lights and on one headlight the bits inside move if I tilt the headlight forward or backwards as if it's not attached inside, has anyone ever experiences anything like this? I'm thinking it could be something to do with the adjustment bit not being attached or something?

Also I stupidly out of curiosity took out the bulb on that headlight and I can not for the life of me get it back in. Im probably being stupid but I can't figure out how the mechanism works.. Do you put the red and black box on then turn the circle bit? Or turn both them together I'm stuck!

Have you read all the threads about aftermarket Xenons ?

Do you know they will blow your wiper motor (every time )

Have you read the sticky ?

Do you know they are illegal ?

Do you know that you need auto-levellers and headlamp washers to pass the MOT ?

They are OEM XENON HEADLIGHTS.

Who said anything about not having washers or self levers?
Does the sticky answer any of mt questions. No

Ok - they are OEM and won't blow the wipers - sorry, my mistake.

However they will still be illegal and will not pass the MOT without the other items.

L80ewy when you say the bits inside move do you mean the projector lens? The igniter is a bit fiddly but easier to put on when headlights are off the car. Your right its just a case of making the three bits that stick out at bottom of igniter slot perfectly into the black bulb holder ring and turn clockwise (i think) to lock into place.

Just didn't like the fact you jumped to conclusions an was like you were having a go for me not reading the sticky ha sorry. I will be having a friend MOT it, probably not what some people would recommend or be happy with but they headlights will be aligned so should be fine.

Yeah the lenses etc are all moving but just from the bottom.. And I'm sure the leveller attaches to the bottom of the lenses ?
I've got the headlights off and I still can't manage it haha, cheers though

Ok mate - maybe my post was a bit abrasive and for that I am sorry.

However, your last comment is a bit of a worry as that defeats the object of having the necessary safeguards in place to eliminate, or at least mitigate, the serious and more and more prevalent problem of being blinded by illegal xenons.

I think your friend will need to consider seriously the implications of what he is prepared to do for you, assuming of course you do not have the necessary additional items fitted.

Once again, I hope you get it sorted, legally.

Does anyone know if you can remove the whole inside of the headlight if you take the lens off the front of the headlight?

I suspect the levelling bar has come loose or plastics broken, you can remove the front by heating it up around the edges & then have a look inside, if you dont feel confident then, get someone who does, could send to me to look at.

I actually have a set of bixenons for sale shortly aswell.

You can't really see anything more with the front lense off unless you're going to dismantle it. If as above you remove the front lense you should be able to dismantly the light units by unscrewing the top 2 torx screws as it sounds like the 3rd screw that is normally holding the level motor to the light unit isn't connected. There is a slight chance the ball has come out of the socket??

Unless the xenon are different to the halogen, the level motor is the only contact point at the "bottom" of the light units, there are two ball joints at the top on either side held on by the torx screws.

when i bought my bixenons the levelling bar had come loose it was fairly easy to put it back on however. If you take a photo from inside the cap it may be of help.

Yes I know, just clarifying that removing the front lense won't give you any more idea of what's going on unless you are def going to strip it which is from the back anyway, as all fixings are seen with both back caps removed.

i have a feeling you have got the same issue that Farhan had with his where it had fallen off a clip and free to move.
Farhan eventually fixed it by fiddling with it but im sure he can help you out more.

Yer, its pretty easy once you remove the headlight assembley. I was arguing with it kept adjusting it via the small white plastic circle to move the level up and down so it would slot in. Genius that i am then realised all i had to do was push the metal hook towards the right and slot it back in! LOL CLEVER BOY I AM

When replacing a bulb... Do you lock this circle bit in first then the igniter onto the back of that ??
