S3 MY12 Panther Build thread: The End; it's been emotional!

Do you ever let a spec of dust land on that car mate?! lol Absolutely spotless!

On the wheels, spot on! Looks lovely (not that it wasn't in the first place!). Sounds like you found yourself a very genuine seller there for the wheels. Fair play to him.

I'm in 2 minds whether to go an inch bigger on my wheels. After seeing this thread.... hmmmm.

Daily driver, I just think the Jetseal is delivering the goods!

The S3 is ripe for 19's, I think it's Audi trying to keep the S3 off the RS toes by not offering a 19 option. Happy to let the S-Line butt up against the S, but the RS is king. I didn't get a chance to weigh them but they feel lighter than the 18's. Wonder if they use higher grade alloys in the construction of the wheel.

Would you go same rim style again Coss?

Warren I think these look superb, I love most OEM wheels. Was thinking between Helios, Speedline BBS but you have now thrown me a complete curve ball.

Thanks a bunch and who said choosing wheels was an easy choice.

Anyway it rocks, would like to see how they sit on the car, are you still using spacers

Nope, 18's were on Forge 11mm spacers but these are straight on the hub.

18's were 7.5J 56ET(?), 19's are 8J 50ET.

Choosing rims is tough, I just felt I wanted to go factory OEM look on this occasion despite my love of MTM's and BBS's. Speedlines are another stunning rim, too many choices.

Absolutely Beautiful! Well done mate, just love the way you keep it spotless, bodywork is stunning.

pm me a pice on your old ones if not spoken for plz

I may have to give Jetseal a go then!

Yea, going to keep them the same (if I go bigger that is). You see them on loads of other cars as 19's... TT, A4, A5, A6, etc But still yet to see another A3/S3 with them! Shouldn't think it'll be to hard to get a set in 19". I won't be doing anything in the near future though. Got other priorities ATM. That's my adult head speaking there lol

Warren, can you tell me the spec of tyres you are running on 19's?
Are you gonna leave the wheels like they are,or maybe some spacers?

Cheers

Leaving as they are as I'm enjoying being rub free, no spacers just 25mm lower at front
235/35/19 tyres

Can you send me some actual picture how it looks now when lowered?
I would love to go with the same setup as you cuz the front looks amazing
but for the back i would use some spacers (5-8mm)
Really love your car mate!

I love what you've done so far and where this thread is heading. Quality write-ups as per:salute:

For once I'm thankful I'm skint, otherwise I'd have to steer well clear of this thread!

RS3 grille may also be incoming, awaiting confirmation today....

Its not an RS3 so why make it look like one? I never did understand this fascination of making cars look something they ain't. LOL
I much prefer the whole 'sleeper' look. Keep it an S3 and make it faster than an RS3, then that is nice! I just can't see how the 19's look better? I would think the expense alone for the difference would be too much? I dunno.
I would love an RS3, couldn't afford one, so there is no way I would waste money making my S3 look like one. But of course, this is imho and each to there own and all that! Enjoy it warren and I look forward to the mapping experience you go through. :D

I agree with some of the sentiment of what your saying, if I didn't have the chance of the grille at a reasonable price I wouldn't be considering it.

However:

i) Its still a 3 door so will never really mimic an RS3 lookwise
ii) It doesn't have the same bumpers or exhaust outputs
iii) It will be firmly badged as an S3, not an RS!
iv) as it's black I don't think too many of the mods will stand out to anyone other than the trained eye

Hopefully by S2+ it will have the power of a basic RS3, but I'm under no pretense it's anything else. Its purely a case that some bits came my way and I've taken the option, initially I had no intention of going out to build a fake RS3!

How much you pay is your business, please don't think I am commenting to for that, however, the S3 front end looks mint, why change it? i mean, even the 'reasonable' price is going to be expensive enough for a part of that nature (i.e. popular) so spend that on the mapping, exhaust, mods for future mapping, etc surely?

However:

i) Its still a 3 door so will never really mimic an RS3 look wise, 3 doors just ain't enough!
ii) It doesn't have the same bumpers or exhaust outputs, agreed.
iii) It will be firmly badged as an S3, not an RS! Phew! Now I can relax! LOL.
iv) as it's black I don't think too many of the mods will stand out to anyone other than the trained eye Its not just 'Black', its only Panther Black which really is a superb pick. Again I could not afford the colour I wanted more the wait till Feb for it either but that was a Blue, however that Panther is really good.

Hopefully by S2+ it will have the power of a basic RS3, but I'm under no pretense it's anything else. Its purely a case that some bits came my way and I've taken the option, initially I had no intention of going out to build a fake RS3!
As above, the mapping I am interested in. Having had enough bad choices before I am now even more 'anal' about finding out more information, etc before I even go there. I understand on forums there are far more moans and whinging than positives sometimes, but I am freaked out by the 'issues' it appears there may be with the 2011 cars. Like I say, enjoy it, I am sure you will and thanks for putting my mind at rest! Hahaha.

Its hardly going to be an RS3 rep.
The original wheels look more or less exactly the same as the RS3 wheels, apart from that 1 inch.
And fitting a honeycomb grille is a pretty minor tweak too.

All exhausts / mappings / CAI / DV / Catch cans / HPFP are paid for and sorted, so this was just a bit of a 'wonder what it will look like' kind of moment.

It may be when I offer it up to the front of the car I think twice and just sell it on, so it may not even go on. Don't think it will be too hard to sell on (says with fingers crossed).

This is likely to be the last car I ever mod, so I'm just tinkering really to get it out of my system. I've loved cars all my life and until recently I never had the money to play at it properly so I'm just enjoying my last foray!

AAHHHH EVERYONE SHUT UP AND JUST ENJOY THE BEAUTY OF THE CAR :rtfm:

I'm going to badge it up as an RS3 Plus on every panel including those exterior mirror 'ghost' graphics!

By the time I've hooked up some double ovals at the back end y'all RS owners be b1tch1n me!

Seeings they couldn't build us 3 door fans an RS, I've had to do an A-Team job.

Hmmmm soup....

LOL. Like it. Soup (Insert Homer drool and sound effects here!)
Anyway, 3,2,1 back in the room! You lot have to stop posting about RS3's cus I want one and I don't have the money! so be said!
Stop it! ;)

One inch makes a huge difference. The car looks awesome now!

****** !!!!!.....I just tell myself that my Speedlines look better than any other wheel, and then you do this and totally blow that out of the water.

I'll have to start listening to Mrs Shadowman when she says that 1 inch can make a difference :)).....those look absolutely perfect in my eyes.

The 18's were too flat in profile and too small, but the slight dish, the extra inch and consequently the slimmer edge to the spokes just makes them look superb !!..and they don't get lost with the black colour of the car either.

Nice work Warren....they really look good.....you must be chuffed.

Let me know if you're thinking about selling your Speedlines :)

Hi all, just a public service notice as I've had a lot of PM's in the last few days about the BE wheels.

I will not be selling the 18" Black Edition rims as I'm keeping them to put back on the car at point of sale, thank you.

Saves me typing about 8 PM's!

Many thanks, W
