Hi and Happy New year to all.

I have been doing some research on ASN today on Lowering Springs for my S3 and have decided on Eibach Pros, i.e lowering by 25mm.

I have read a number of owners have either H&Rs or Eibachs and have different sentiments towards the two springs but my decision has been based on a softer ride which the Eibachs offer as opposed to H&Rs since the latter are firmer. I'm taking a risk that the Eibachs are not too bouncy but I'm after a spring which is not going to compromise the already pleasant\mild ride quality (which I can stiffen at any point as I have Magnetic Ridge)

Question is, can anyone recommend a 'one stop shop' for supplying and fitting Eibach Pros in the London North East Areas, Essex or Hertfordshire?

Thanks in advance. Cheers!

If im right which actually typing this out is sort of making me think im not but if they drop 25mm from standard the s3 is already on a 25mm drop from standard so surely you will see no difference?

Not sure I fully understand what you're saying but I'm looking to drop my standard S3 another 25mm. Eibach Sportlines will lower a car by approx 40 - 50 mm if I recall which is not what I'm after, only a another 25mm drop hence Eibach Pro Kit.

AMD at Thurrock/Lakeside is your best bet. I had them supply and fit eibach sportline springs and they also laser align it... all for £299.

But I think you'll find that the Eibach Pro springs only include the front two springs, so the rear of your car will remain unchanged and the front will be lowered by approx. 20mm.

I don't think they do sportlines for S3s.

Thanks Ads.

Thanks for the pointer - Thurrock is not a million miles away. You're right, there are only two front springs! The depicting picture on Eibach's website is a tad misleading. Not sure what the point of only providing the front springs if there's nothing I can do to the back?

Time reconsider to H&Rs?

Its pretty handy having Lakeside shopping centre a few minutes walk away too, to pass the time while they've got your car.

Yep, H&Rs come with a full set of springs, and I think KW and Weitec also do sets for the S3 that will give you a 25/20mm drop all round.

You could have a word with S3RYE on here. He's going to be fitting coilovers soon so might be wanting to sell his H&R springs. His is a 3dr though so you'd need to check they also fit a SB.

:banghead: Decisions, decisions.... Not sure how comfortable H&Rs, KW or Weitec are...

Coilovers for me is not a consideration as I have Mag ride.

Cheers

Damian (member name DPM) might be able to advise you what each are like, he sells them and knows his stuff. Drop him a PM.

Or just give AMD a call, they're pretty helpful and will give you advice, especially if they're gonna get a sale out of it.

:o.k:

Eibach Pro's only supply front 2, strange as had few kits & all had 4 included.

Damian@dpm is your kiddy to supply, top bloke.

Not sure about lakeside being handy. Had a full service at AMD the other day and lakeside cost me an extra £100 on top!

Thanks for all your help guys. For curiosities sake, I have emailed Eibach to establish why they only do fronts, not rears. Will keep you updated on response(s).

I had a Subaru, had fitted Eibach springs with standard shocks and this was firm. Later I went for Eibach coilovers and it was then too hard. I have since bought my 2011 S3 from new last September and the ride in that is superb compared to the Eibachs, either the springs or the coilovers. This really is imho but Eibachs are too hard and too firm for our cr4ppy roads. I would never do it again.
To me, the standard S3 ride is good compared to what I had with my Eibachs in the Subaru. Think carefully what you want from the car on a DAILY basis before you spend your money.

Spoke to AMD Essex today. Supply and Fit of H&Rs including 4 wheel alignment for £350. Reasonable?

Yep, I'd say so. Subtracting the cost of the springs... they're charging you about £140-£150 for fitting and the alignment. Good deal.

For fitting you could try Elite in Dagenham. Used them for years and they have always been honest with a good service.

Yes, I have used Elite Auto many a time in the past too - not sure they Supply and Fit H&Rs however. I'll give them a call too. Cheers

Official response from Eibach..

Thank you for your enquiry.

That is correct, for the latest S3 we only offer front springs. This is because we couldn’t get the required deflection from the rear springs, so if we made the rear springs it would have a negative effect on the handling of the car.

I hope this helps, if you have any other questions please call or email me.

So does that mean that H&R and the others have managed to do what Eibach couldn't?? Or does it mean that H&R and other four spring kits have a negative effect on the handling of the car??

I don't know mate.....my mechanical engineering days are well and truely behind me however I can email the chap back...

Lucky find. Ive been looking at spec'n mag ride on a near definate s3 purchase and was unsure of the issues with lowering etc.
looks like springs are available but does the mag ride system need to be reprogrammed to cope with the drop as surly it will go from comfort /sport to sport/rock when the damping travel is reduced?

Not sure if the mag ride is programmable. Regarding Mag however, at the time of spec'ing the S3 it was a frivolous option however it's turned out to be a completely brilliant comfortable ride, hence wanting it kept relative soft when wanting to lower it

It would appear that the best springs to go for KWs or wietecs as they a softer ride compared to H&Rs

Any thoughts?

Ive used AMD a few times and always been happy with the service. I actually paid G Werks £80 to do my front suspension (did the rears myself as its really easy) and then paid £50 for a proper alignment after they had settled. AMDs prices seem similar and have always been competitive for other work Ive had done.
