Well what can i say. The guys and the service are fantastic. The knowledge they have is amazing. Everything you read about Rtech on the new about how good they are is 100% true!

one downside i had was i had to raise the front of the car to get on the rollers but i knew i`d have to from others posts. The guys got the car in and had a check over to make sure everything looked good. Strapped it down for the standard run. Came out at 148bhp so wasnt bad for a 13yr old car on 114k miles i guess!

They set about installing the chip and about 45minutes later the car was fired up and the first few runs began. Immediately i could tell the gains, The car squatted more under acceleration, the exhaust was a bit raspier and the tish from the airfilter was much louder lol.

Few runs and i was called over. Was shown the vag-com logs and couldnt believe the results! He showed me various other logs and talked me through what everything meant which was nice! Printer was down so i got everything on a CD so thats cool!

So the figures...which i couldnt believe myself to start off with as i expected the tiny k03 to flow about 180/200ft-lbs.

It made....

199.3bhp at fly and 221ft-lbs!!! The car is completely transformed, its so fast compared to what it was as standard.

Some graphs from the CD:

So i`ve gained 51bhp and 77ft-lbs! Pretty epic for £275 i`d say!

Anyone needs mapping go to Rtech!! oh and the 4wd dyno is still off site round the corner.

Good news mate!

Is it just generic mapping or do you know if they do custom mapping also for these cars???

I believe r-tech do custom live maps too. Was looking into it when I was planning bigger mods. Handy as they are just down the road from me :)

Cool result. Well done!

Does your car have a boost gauge fitted? Be interesting to know what your car is currently boosting to with those figures.

Good news for me as that's who I'm planning on taking mine to next year when I get the GT28 kit.

Excellent result! Boost figures would be nice. You can see the effect of the tiny turbo from the graphs, peak power comes in at a lowly 5k, and its dropped 20hp again by time time it gets to 6k!

Well 995 mbar converts into 14.4psi so yeah running at a bar. Not got a gauge yet but will do soon.

lol yeah silly little 005 tails off way too quickly so will either have to look for a cheap k04 or save up for a k03-73. What shocked me was they were saying the cheap chinese turbos on ebay arent actually that bad if mapped well. They had an a4 1.8t in which was made out as a touring car rep and was running a chinese k04 which cost £150 from bay. Ran 250bhp and guy took it to the ring after and ran fine and as far as they know its still running fine. They had a newer ibiza 1.8t running an ebay spec t3 turbo which was just over 300bhp and strong. He said about 40% of cars they see are all running ebay turbos and dont cause issue when mapped right and stay reliable..Was quite shocked at that.

Also said they can map these turbos better than the golf k03`s eventhough they`re better slightly. Probably helped by our turbo`s arent stuck down the back of the engine against the bulkhead so temps dont get as high maybe.

I know quite a few budget Honda turbo builds use them fine and a lot of s13/14 owners run them fine...Suppose it comes down to whether you want to take the risk and got the cash to fix again if it goes pop.

Few other things to add for extra info. Initial n75 duty was at 99% mainly to get that power up early and then once it was up there duties dropped to around 75%. He said a lot of these cheap postage mappers and so on will just wack it up to 100% across the board just to get those high figures. Then of course thats when things start going wrong. Pulled out 7degrees of timing too which i guess was helped by 99ron fuel and the pcv system no longer recirc`ing into the TIP since i re-routed it to vent to atmosphere.

oh and in regards to the 4wd dyno, they do still have to go round the corner to roger clark to use their dyno sadly but they said that wont stop them doing peoples cars.

Also we were talking about m3.5 and people swapping to me7. He says theres no need..me3.8 is perfectly fine and they can map them slightly better than the newer models..And they`re looking into launch control on me3.8 s they`ve already done it on 7.5. Could be interesting :p

Mark: They also said get down there and they`ll sort you out once and for all but obviously the car will need to be there for more than a day..Im not sure if you`re getting Bill to sort it now? But Rtech said they`ll definitely get you sorted. Just need to give them the car and time pretty much.

They are pie hot on ME3.83. I am still changing to ME7, too deep into it to not do it now.

What to do.... LOL

The "995 mbar" on the dyno sheet is atmospheric pressure, not boost.

As for the ebay turbos, the problem is more that they arent balanced properly so basically vibrate themselves to bits in a few thousand miles, rather than anything to do with the mapping. Materials are substandard too.

Well either way i know its a bar somewhere lol. He did mention 17psi but he was flicking through other cars maps for examples so whether it was mine and it spikes to 17 and tails to a bar. Will have to get a gauge at some point to check.

i'm glad you liked them (mainly as i was thinking of geting my car chipped there too) i was very interested by the before and after rolling road, so i know exactly what i'm runnin, as opposed to "being told what i'm running", altho ii'd be looking at a 170 odd mile trip from N.Wales to get there, i'd have plenty of time to "feel the boost and power" all the way home.
What E-Mail do they use, as i'm still waiting for a mail back.

They`re very busy and understaffed as i told when questioned the lack of email replies so better to phone when they reopen after the break
