Morning guys and girls, bought myself other Audi a little 2.0tdi sport 2003/53 not many miles 73k.

Started offer proper boggy, only done a few bits but want to keep it looking oem but with a difference. i had 8l S3 back in the days some of you guys will remember it but spent so much money on it i'm still hurting now...lol. i'll put a couple of pics of it on here.

but the problem i have is my car is acting like a ****, it has a cold starting problem, the coolant keeps running out, and makes a slight knocking noise feels like its under the back seat, but have had it looked at twice now but no problems i was thinking it could be an exhaust rubber or maybe something else was loose, got one verdict he said maybe a aux. belt tensioner?

ill stop boring u all now and put up some pics.

old S3 as standard

I don't know about you but that parking space looks like hell on earth to me! Lol.
Too close to too many pedestrians and push bikes :-(
Love those alloys tho, best OE ones in my opinion.

tell me about it bud, but its only space outside my shop, i once had this old git sit on my wing cause he was waiting for a bus and thought it was ok, so i asked him nicely to not sit there he started get ***** and telling me i shouldn't park my car there then i was :wtf:

Whats your budget for the Xenons? I know of a set of Bi-Xenon Adapatives for sale. You looking to fit levelling and washers etc too?

What is your opinion on the M3? Was it good but expensive to run?

It might be a good replacement for my S2000 in a years time.

If it's a BKD engine then the loss of coolant is likely to be caused by the dreaded 'porous head' problem. I'm afraid it was a common fault in the earlier type 'A' cylinder heads. White smoke and bad cold starting are both symptoms.

As far as xenons are concerned you will need self-levelling sensors and headlamp washers from 1st Jan next year to pass MOT, hence N8's question.

Nice looking car though !

N8 had a little look on fleebay and some where like £300 boys others where more? i was looking around a couple of hundred really!!

cheers mate that was a nice motor.

and M3 was a joy the only thing is they do cane rear tyres, and servicing i.e inspection 2 is £1100. but overall a mental motor really will make u smile everytime u floor it.

mike cheers for that info mate, where or how do i find out if its the BKD engine, common fault...nice another problem:(. what work has to be done mate

There is a sticker on the inside front cover of the service book which tells you the engine code. If you haven't got the service book the same sticker is in the boot well near the spare wheel.

As far as what work has to be done, the only answer is to replace the head unfortunately, although you should first try a bottle of K-seal available from most car accessory shops for about £7. Just bung it in the top up bottle and hope it helps !

Mine had a slight coolant leak, put some radweld in and so far its gone. So i'd try that first mate for the sake of about £8.

cheers Sheikh but mate theres no leak had it up on the ramp running and not running for about an hour but still no leak so its gotta be that porous problem, but have spoke with a mate who works at Audi and hopefully he shed some more light on it he's busy until after the new year!, but i might aswell try K-seal mate, this doesn't mess it up if did have to get the head replaced would it?

K-seal has worked successfully for a few guys on here and it won't mess anything up.

As far as a new head is concerned, you don't really mean a 'new' head do you because if I remember correctly that is about £2500 ish !

Talk to a member on here called 'devonmikeyboy' who has had reconditioned heads available and may be able to help.

Good luck !

Mike I put some k-seal in it on Xmas eve, done a few miles since and it seems to be better on the starting side but hasn't been as cold so no updates yet? I did mean recon'd haven't had a chance to ask matey on here yet, but am waiting for my mate too!!
