Hi
I took my 2004 A3 2ltr TDI Sport for its free MOT through Audi and it failed on 'rear coil springs both incomplete'. I then took it to another garage just to be safe, also failed here 'rear coil springs (both) fractured'.
I got qouted silly money by Audi, IIRC then it was £360 or thereabouts.
I managed to source some Genuine Audi Rear Springs from Ebay, Part no 8P051111AN turns out these are for a A3 Quattro 2004-2007.
Rang Audi who said the correct part no for the rear springs for my vechicle is 8P051111P.
My question is this, will the A3 Quattro rear springs fit my A3? Should I have them fitted or order the correct parts through Audi?
I am concerned that the seller will not accept a refund on the springs I purchased, I really should have checked further, he did say to send chassis no etc which I did and he said it will be fine....Please advice...

If the A3q is anything like the A4q then the rear suspension is quite different to the FWD varients. So they'll probably not fit.

Oh dear...I hope the seller takes them back then, I will have to order the correct part from dealer then. I thought perhaps there is a chance they will fit.

Fwd and quattro springs are different as shocks coilovers are different for each cars...

Thanks for confirming the worst. Now I will have to hope the seller takes them back and gives me a full refund. I will have to ask Audi to order me the correct ones and then get them fitted asap to pass under the 10 day MOT rule

I've got some used S-line front and rear springs if you are interested. They will fit your sport and will give a slight drop.

Oh, just realised it might not work as mine are off my sportback. Anyone know for sure if they will fit?

Well sportback s3 springs and shocks will fit 3 door s3 so i dont see why not...

TBH honest I just want to keep it original as possible not looking for further drop etc as I am just on original 17's. Just trying to get a price from dealer...

Cool try stoke audi on here for a price,, for a asn member...

Ring some motor factors aswell, i.e. GSF,ECP,Unipart etc. They will be cheaper than the dealer and; as long as you don't buy the cheapest knackiest ones they have; will be just as good.

Rang GSF, EURO Car Parts etc. All the ones they stock say not compatable with Sport suspension chassis. Guess its a dealer only part...As I plan on keeping the car want to get it right. At the prices they are charging I was thinking I would be better of with an Eibach kit, wont be long before the say the front springs are on the way out...know what I mean

Eibach kit is probably your best bet. Go for the pro line if you don't want too much of a drop since you are on 17s. They will feel better than standard and will only lower to around the same level as a standard s-line so no ridiculous drop.

If you gave the guy on eBay your chassis number and he said they'd be ok to fit & you've since found out there not, then he should take them back for a full refund as the item is not fit for purpose & he gave you incorrect information.

Quattro suspension is different to standard.

Took the plunge and just ordered through TPS, genuine parts with 2 year warranty. £123 odd. Another hit just before Xmas :(
Was really tempted by the Eibachs which would have probably cost around the same and I would have got the whole kit for that price, fronts&rear. Oh well. Booked MOT for Thurs. Hopefully shouldnt be any problems now. Get the new coils fitted tonight.
