My home insurance,

Missed a DD, spent to much on xmas gifts and the DD when tits up, they state the next date,

Direct line used the missed DD to cancel my policy because i had a claim in mid swing for a dropped laptop!

They contact me, saying, Iv got to pay up the full years premium or my claim would be invalid,

so iv paid up,

but now they are saying after the claim is delt with my policy wont be honoured for the rest of the year, even after iv paid upfront for it!

Grrrrrr,

Grrrrrr,

Thats about right, sounds very unfair though. I think I'd run that one past the insurance ombudsman to make sure it's legal.

Direct Line used to be good, had my car insured with them for 8 years or so and although I checked premiums every year they were always the best. Soon as they were taken over by the Royal Bank of Scotland things started to change, now I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole.

Was with Direct line for mortgage, insurance both life and house and later on for car insurance..
When my mortgage fixed term was up i phoned to see what deals they had on offer and they were not prepared to do any so swapped mortgage.
House and life insurances' both went through the roof come renewal time and once again they were not prepared to come down in price to compete with better quotes.
Finally the car insurance, even with 5 years no claims they were twice the price of swift cover and wouldnt budge, not even prepared to waiver the direct debit charge.......
I was always loyal to that company, bigging them up to my friends and family but they can shove their company up their ****.

I hate Direct Line with a passion! Trying to communicate with their call centre staff is a nightmare, last time i rang to move my house insurance it took me 50 minutes!

The caller to the operator sat near to the one i was speaking clearly wasn't have much joy either as all i could hear was "please don't swear at me sir!"

I used DirecLine to insure my S3 the first time round 10 years ago when I was 24, they was cheap then, but I've not used them since....

Aviva were so good with my car insurance i transfered my house insurance to them as well.

Norwich Union who the house was with a few years ago listed telephone enquiries as claims but didn't put them on the claim history. So when I took out a policy with Esure and declared the claims I did have they cancelled my policy for not declaring the others. The ombudsman ruled in my favour, however I still have to disclose that I have had a policy cancelled. Aviva were fine with it and not bothered as they said it happens all time.

So take care people and read the fine print carefully.

Direct Line and Churchill, both owned by RBS of course, have just been fined £2.2M for a complaints cover-up. OH YES!! :sm4:
