Winter is here, and it's miserable!
Now that I've got the Rotas, I've been able to take the TT rims and use them as winter wheels on the daily.
I managed to pick up a set of fairly budget tyres, brand new on ebay, for just £101!
I went up to my mate Bruces last night, and fitted the tyres, Bruce was busy, so he showed me how to do the first one, then I did the rest myself, quite enjoyable actually
So, here it is, the daily, on it's winter rims:
17x7.5J TT 6 spokes, spaced 17mm front, and 20mm rear giving ET15 front, and ET12 rear, with 205/45's
Pretty happy with them, they look fairly good I think, it's a bit different, and it's all good and legal now for the winter months.
With that done, I set about curing the nasty rattle I've had in the exhaust for months, I took a gamble on a toyosports exhaust back in April, and to be honest, it hasn't paid off, as it developed a rattle within a few months. I couldn't send it back, as I'd had to modify it hugely to fit my car anyway.
I tracked the rattle down to being inside the centre box, so today I whipped the centre section out, and cut it open:
With the flap opened up, it was pretty apparent what was causing the rattle!
Cheap nasty ****
Rather than try and weld the tube back into place, I decided to just rip it all out, so I emptied the box of all it's cladding, and the broken perforated tube, and welded it back up again. excuse the awful welding, I've not used the welder myself since last christmas, and welding thin stainless with mild steel wire is not something I'm good at!
Welded up, and linished down, I gave it a few coats of VHT silver paint, to stop the mild steel weld rusting on the stainless box:
Refitted it after going into town with Tori, and all is well. the rattle has gone, the sound hasn't changed that much, so I'm happy.
that's half a day spent on the daily this quarter, so that'll do! Will get back to the track car again asap
