Ive been looking at the GTB2260VK turbocharger which has been converted to use a vacuum actuator. It also comes with the intercooler 2.5" outlets.

Is this a good upgrade? Has anyone done it?

not if its mapped correctly

Wouldn't the internals have to be changed because of higher pressure?

only thing im thinking of is a mani, 3" down pipe, clutch and map

A few boys are running this turbo on the 1.9 ARL's with a custom manifold IIRC.

got any links or anything buddy?

What are you trying to achieve?

There are some very decent turbo options available that are designde to go straight in without adaption.

Am not sure exactly what the point is when there's a plethora of decent hybrids available that can flow as much air as the stock engine can handle without producing any extra lag. What more could you want, apart from perhaps a lower price tag?

Hi there,

it depends on your power goals, if you want to go beyound 250hp you should user a GTB2260VK don't be fouled that it's a GT22 it has the 3rd gen vanes so the spool would be more than decent of a 2.0 tdi. For a daily driver i would use a GTB2056VK that at 2000rpm can do 1.3 bars or even better if you wannt to limit to 230-240bhp go for a GTB1756VK and your lag will be almost 0, much better response than the stock turbo that is a 1st generation VNT :)

LE: you don;t need to change the stock Intercooler that is the same as the GTI has. If you want to be 100% safe you can buy some bosio uprated injectors to protect the cylinder head that is prone to leak coolant.
