AS.NET RING TRIP

Well boys, it's my last day at work before the trip!

Just got to bleed the brakes tomorrow, and pack my bags :)

can't wait!!!!!

I hate you! I've got today and tomorrow :(

All I've got to do is pack my bags and get some music on my iPhone. Just out of interest Nick, how much space does a Harry's lap timer lap take up on your phone?

that depends entirely on how quick you are my friend ;)

As a rough guess, allow 1gb for a 10 minute lap.

free stickers!!!!!

Look awesome on a black bonnet too:

Just finished packing my bag. I've got a mixture of summer clothes and winter clothes. Dry clothes, and waterproof clothes, god knows what the weather will do

I cant be bothered with work tomorrow wish I had the day off to clean my car some more.

Well, that didn't go exactly as planned did it lads.....

2 track closures Friday night, 6 track closures saturday, and I think 5 closures on Sunday.

Westy managed 2 laps total, I think Tam managed 2, I managed 5, and Dad did 3. Andy got 4 in the volvo, although it hardly worked for a full lap.

Bob managed 0.4 laps before remodelling the armco and earning himself a £3500 Bill, as well as a written off leon, then on Sunday I was first on scene and had to marshall for a fatal accident where a guy was thrown 20m from the back window is a clio 172, before dying on the floor in the woods.....

Not a weekend I am EVER going to foget. Pretty tough one infact.

Nice to meet you all lads, top bunch of people.

Sorry to all those for whom this was a first trip, it is most definitely NOT like this usually.

Still had a brilliant time even with all the dramas and as a passanger

Can imagine how good it really can be when everything gos as planned (as went wrong for me before it even started with the ill car) but really good bunch of people and would definately do it again :beerchug:

Strangest weekend I've ever had fullstop I think! On top of all the closures there was a plague of wasps in Germany, we heard the air raid siren in Adenau go off (apparently to alert the fire brigade), we had a heatwave followed by torrential rain, I caught German man flu, and I broke my toe kicking the car jack box that was on the floor at the end of my bed (pic to follow)!

Edit. Here's the pics:

It was great to meet you all, top bunch of lads and we all had a fair bit of fun off the track. I got to see some new spectator areas and also went to the top of the castle (what a view). Did the new museum and GP circuit so I saw a fair few new things.

Next trip we'll have to seriously think about a mid weeker to avoid all the carnage!

Looks and sounds like you lot had an eventful weekend!

Westy, the only consolation is that it was your clutch foot, rather then the accelerator/brake foot

Omg! Not quite the weekend you guys had planned lol

And all the above carnage and set backs is why i went mid week, and would only ever go midweek. Last year when I left on a friday, i couldnt beliwvw the.amount of cars pouring in.

Sad sad story about the death :(

The ring is a savage beast

Next years trip will be a mid weeker. Will you be on board for that Karl? You have a while to put in your permission slip ;)

When are you thinking of going Westy? I might try and get to this one, rather then just talk about it..

Haha only just seen your sig how long you had that on there?

Also think my knee ook a battering all that walking and possibly running after you lot on the golf caddy :)

Pic dont show it to well but it was like a balloon when i got home

all depends on the dollars buddy, and if my car is worthy by then. last time and ADI just highlighted weeknesses that i want right for my next track sesh.

Me and a few of the local lads here are wanting to go too next year... so many strange ideas on price of the trip though...
Some who have been say £1000 for a weekend?
Others claim about £500??
Is there any idea on a planned date yet??

I'm waiting till January when they release the 2012 dates then I'll put the good ones up to see what people fancy. After this years fiasco it might be worth planning a mid week trip to ensure plenty of track time.

As for price, £500 is more accurate but I live in the south east of England so getting down to dover is only a short drive. You'd have to do a lot of laps to clock up a £1K bill but i suppose it can be done.

Well, From the chat we had i thought either a long weekend ( leave thurs and arive home monday evening )
Although you lads know better than me and midweek til weekend may be better?
Any of us would probably only do say 5 laps, look around museum and have a few beers,
I just dont wanna get there and be like a nutter rushing around.
How many miles ( france to ring and back to france) would you say? Is there a best way of the ferry or tunnel?

I usually get the tunnel but the ferry is cheaper. This year we got the ferry to dunkirque as it shorterns the amount of driving and was a good chance to chat the the ASN lads.

It's about 300 miles from France to Nurburg and normally takes about 5 hours in convoy driving sensibly.

The only issue now with weekends is that the Ring is so popular now that it's packed, and it only takes one accident to shut the track for an hour or so.

This year the track was shut for the best part of a day after a fatality and I only managed 2 laps all weekend.

I recon I would be up for this if it were at Easter,

Matt
are you still up for this hoggy? as im well keen to get over there and seeing as we live close we could travel down tothe ferry to meet the others together :) ?? just an idea

Im realy up for getting to the ring this year,
A few of us are hoping to make a trip , Is there any idea on dates the Audi boys going?
Would love to see Prawns car in action,
Also did somebody mention a petrol station that did some kind of super potent fuel?

I'll be up for this as usual. I've had a quick look at the dates but I'm looking for week days this year so not sure if Prawn and co would rather do a weekend after last year?!

I'm look at the summer months from June really as every time I've been in may it's rained.

When would be good for you Paul?

Well i havent booked any holidays, I decided this year this came first,
For some reason i thought people mentioned july kind of time?
I more than agree a weekend would be mental busy, I was thinking ... if i had to do my own thing i would drag it out over a midweek into maybe a weekend ?
Im more than happy to listen to those who have been before as i may be way off.

I've been going for the last 10 years and it's been getting busier and busier each year. Last year was the worst I've seen but we did pick a bad weekend as there was a super bikes race on the GP circuit.

I'll have a proper look through the dates again tomorrow and see what's available on the week days. The main issue is that the track is normally only open 5pm-7pm during the week compared to all day at the weekend, but like you say, dragging it into a weekend might be a good idea.

im well up for this if it goes ahead, and my cars running properly by then lol, does everyone just meet at the ferry? or are you all local to eachother?

LAst year we had 2 convoys that met at the Shell garage before Dover. Audi's all over the forecourt ;)
haha nice..!! what date are you thinking of going? as i'l have to source the funds and book time off, do you book hotel, ferry etc before or when you get there?
