off to awesome gti on friday to get mine mapped seen the advert on ebay for £150 so couldnt refuse....... dont know if anyone else as spotted them, just thought id give everyone a shout has there a offer till xmas

Bargin, you can't turn that down

Shame they are Manchester. Anyone been to them before? Any good?

there a big name in the vdub seen m8 i'll let you know friday ive only heard good things about them but never used them myself, hope all goes well hey !!!! the car runs sweet now and dont want that spoiling just a few more extra donkeys would be nice with good driveabillity !!! and for £150 quid its half as much my local specialist wants for a custom code map

Be carefull remapping the 1.9tdi engine, if it is an aggressive map you will get alot of grumble below 2000rpm if you floor the go pedal.
i have had 3 awx engines remapped and twice they grumbled alot on the 3rd time i asked for a less agressive map and it was fine.
for £150 it will be a generic map and may not work well with your car.
The flywheels grumble really easily on these engines.

yes its a generic map and ill make myself clear to them i dont want an aggresive map if they get 160bhp from it id be happy with that and the flywheel n clutch is being done in the new year unless it breaks before as i think it's more so near the end of it's life.... im not a rally driver just want a little more overtaking speed but dont we all thanks for the comments as this helps when questioning the said companys with my needs

just 1.9 and 2.0 tdi on offer until xmas m8..... maybe worth a phone call to see if they can do a deal on petrols

well guys im well impressed the car is totally reformed, it's the best £150 ive spent in a long time the car is driving sweet constant smooth power delivery not over aggressive it's just perfect instead of coming down a gear to overtake now just plant it and overtake with ease....
awesome gti is truly awesome building with very freindly staff with a nice shop and great viewing area's..... if your considering a map then go ebay and buy it now and enjoy trust me

So so tempted.. Need to find a few spare quid
I know its a bit soon, but have you found it better on MPG?

not better but then again not worse m8 done 400 miles since remap still done 500 to a tank and got 160 left on the display but have been giving it some abuse tbh but dont have full dis so cant tell mpg off computer m8..... trust me go for it !!! it feels like it pulls twice as fast with ease its that much different

Right im sticking my Touchpad on ebay to get some cash :)

hmm, can anyone tell me the cost difference between this and a proper RR remap?

in my opinion had rr remap in the past i wouldnt call them proper as what it does on the rollers aint important its how it drives on the road.... LIVE maps are always the way forward, but even so i was qouted £300 for custom code remap with rr printouts

I'd ALWAYS insist on doing a remap with a RR, the before and after diagnostics that they should run will give you an idea of the health of the car and if it's reacting properly to the remap (or if the turbo isn't boosting properly / running too rich / too lean, etc).

I've seen some mappers refuse to remap a car due to problems with the before RR run.

Also seen people ask for remaps to be tuned down straight after the remap due to clutch wear, etc.

Live maps are a good thing, but the rollers will give you more feedback when logging. I had my map done live and then the fine tuning was done on the Rollers once the free flow cat and exhaust were added, my map is a custom code map done by Badger5

Corect all car's should have a health check before any remap, my clutch went at 48,000 miles, 2 weeks after the remap most will have slipping clutches after a remap, but some are lucky, the car should go on the rollers as the tuner can then fine tune the map.

i need a clutch anyhows so when me xmas bonus comes ill book it in think i need a DMF aswell as since owning the car there's a clutch judder when pulling off and bit worse when reversing just shake/judder the car slightly but feels poo..... does anyone know if the DMF would cause this judder instead of the clutch itself ???
