I had this in the diesel section but I'm not getting any answers and am now out of the country so thought I would try here...

I have a PSI-Tuning box for my 2.5tdi and have now managed to get some fitting instructions from PSI. However, they are pretty vague!

All seems quite straight forward, interconnecting board between the ECU and car, brown wire to the Negative on the battery...however, according to the instructions from PSI the black wire needs to be attached via a Scotch Lock to the upper right black wire entering the injection pump.

The pictures are not that clear but I assume they mean the wire I have pointed out in the attached.

There is then a switch wire (not needed) and a thin grey wire of which I have no idea...

Could anyone confirm I have the right wire on the pump and whether or not I need to worry about the grey wire.

TBH I would rather some advice so as not to wreck my pump.

Thanks again.

(adamss24 kindly offered to fit this but I was pushed for time to get to him. Thank you though)

Any company that promotes the use of Scotch lock's should be avoided at all costs imho.

That's the wire... Also make sure the jumper pins are set properly inside the box...there are settings for 180 and 150 Bhp...

Thanks that's awesome! (am I OK using a Scotch Block here?)

I have the jumper settings. Only thing the instructions don't show (again) is what the 2 jumper settings do at the top of this picture:

According to the PSI information the pins at the bottom of the picture are set to Position 3 of 4? Would you recommend not running the box on setting 4 on a standard exhaust and air filter?

I assume these boxes won't damage the pump any further?

I've really no idea why people mess around with these things.

Go get the ECU remapped properly instead of fooling it with some manky box of guff!

First, these boxes do work and 2nd, there are no good remappers which know how to tune the vp44 pumps properly + is a chip job on the AFB ecu ! These v6 engines do fly with these on, my b5 98 with the old AFB engine was dinoed at 189 bhp with just one of these ! I'll rather have one of these on my engine as it's fully TUV approved instead of a dodgy "custom" remap which some spotty bloke uploads from a computer on your drive ! Also my previous b5 saloon had about 250Bhp with a hybrid turbo, 3L block and said PSI tuning box smoke free. I've been in 244Bhp 3.0 tdi engines which did not pulled as hard as that ! That was long before uk knew much about remaps trough the OBD port ! Don't judge a book by it's covers...

Well I had no intentions to get anymore bhp out of my 2.5tdi as I think it pulls pretty good out of the box. However, inspiration from adamss24's 'Sleeper' thread and being sucked further into this forum and I ended up getting this box cheap on eBay...

From what I have read on them I haven't heard anything bad (this isn't the 'resistor in a box' type) and have heard mapping horror stories!

Just need some clarification on the jumper pins above and if the temperature lifts over -5 degrees I will fit it this weekend and then feedback.

Get it together mate, you need to tap into the top wire as per picture and plug the connector into the ecu wiring (piggyback), i have one here set for 150 Bhp, i'll take pictures of that in a minute...For maximum results i would get a turbo off the 180Bhp engine ending in S from the 180 Bhp quattro sport ! You'll be grinning every time you'll take the car for a drive !!!
