Hi.
I'm new here so please be gentle :)
I've just purchased a 2006 A3 2.0 TDI s line.
I'm thinking of fitting some springs as it rides a little high at the moment.
Has anyone got any pictures of their A3 lowered on 18's or even 19's?
Chris

Thanks for those pics.
Fran - those pics are really good, looks really well.
Munchkincoupe - do you have any problems with speed bumps etc with those H&R springs? Any rubbing when people are sat in the back? What is the ride like?

No rubbing at all. Ride is better than standard S-line suspension as there is no crashiness quality now. No problems with speed bumps but I do have to be a bit careful coming down ramps due to having the votex kit with the front lower spoiler

Looks **** on that Fran!

If it were me and knowing what I know now I wouldnt put uprated springs with oem dampers, especially if the dampers have done some miles. Mine was fine a few thousand k ago but the ride has got steadily worse which is why it's getting sorted on Thursday with some kw love.

Looks like I'll go with the H&R. Really like the height.
Are those the -35mm or -50mm springs?

whats the ride like on the H&R springs?

Much less body roll in corners and solid on the motorway but still able to absorb bumps

My car is a 2004 on 52k miles but I fitted dampers (5k ago) from a 20k mile S-line along with the H&R springs, new top mounts and geometry reset

How low are the springs? The rides sounds similar to when i had koni shocks and eibach springs on my leon cupra R, which i was happy with

Always scouring the classifieds to see what's about mate. Problem is I rarely see anything that I prefer on an A3 that the 5's. Something with some dish might be in order after the winter though?

If you are going to lower with just springs then I recommend Eibach Sportlines. They will lower your car 50mm at the front and 40mm at the back so you have no RR (reverse rake). A3s need to be lowered slightly more at the front to even up the tyre/arch gap for the front and rear.
I considered H&R 50mm but they are a stiffer ride than Eibach and you get a bit of RR because they lower your car by the same amount all around. Its not much but it would've irritated me.

Anyway... here's mine on 18s:

Looks really nice that Abs. Do you have any problems with speed bumps with your front bumper or any problems when having passengers in the back?

Thanks mate.
No problems at the front at all, I clear all speedbumps etc.

The rear rubs slightly if I go over a big bump too fast, but nothing major. The rubbing is easily stopped by removing one screw from each wheel arch.
My wheels have a lower offset than A3 OEM alloys and are wider, so they sit further out. If you're running a normal offset (ET54) and width (7.5) then you might not get any rubbing at all.

yeah your car does sit lovely ads got to be fair nothing worse than RR on A3's hence why I've got mine set up so its nose down

Ads was wondering how long it would take before the fat fives made an aprearance lol

So does yours mate. I didn't think I'd like the nose down stance but every time I see your car or another car on coils i love it and I'm always tempted by them. But living where I live if I went any lower my front bumper and sump would get murdered. lol.

thanks matey i wouldn't go to springs now I've had coilies , haha know what you mean I've hit the subframe twice in the last month the last time i took a huge chunk out of the floor lol wouldnt change it tho i love it haha , my leon splitter is battered now it keeps hitting speed bumps haha will get a new one next year i think

The ride quality is very good and it even handles the numerous speed bumps near where I live very well. Are you getting the KW Kit? If so be sure to check the rear springs are correct before fitting to avoid the well documented nightmares I had when they mistakenly sent the wrong rear springs. http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/new-a3...1-lowered-suspension-kit-fails-lower-car.html

Exactly same kit. Was going to go with Bilstein b8 dampers and keep my eibachs but I was advised they work better with the pro springs. Got the KW kit for a steal so the eibachs will be sold on. Yours looked like a monster truck with those springs on:laugh: Yes, I'll be checking the numbers before they get fitted!
