Hi folks.

What are the best bright white bulbs to stick in the head lights? I'm after the same bright white light as my Xenons from all the bulbs.

Looking to change

main beam bulbs - Philips diamond vision maybe?? What size?
side light bulbs - suggestions? size?
indicator bulbs - i'll stick in silver visions, size?
fog bulbs - suggestions? size?

As it's a bumper off job i'll do the lot in one go.

Help appreciated, cheers.

Chris

I think the headlights on the standard s3 are 4.3K. 6K bulbs would be nice and white! I wondered this too as i think the lights are abit dim! As for the sidelights, i think they are 501's or ba9's.. im not sure, either way i'd recommend LED ones. You can actually get LED indicator lights too!

Hi mate,

Not changing the xenon's, just the rest of the bulbs in the headlight's.

Chris

If you ever want to change your xenon bulbs get 6000k, they are very white and look so much nicer than standard! (although i have 8000k). The type of bulb is called 'D2S', so search for D2S 6000k if you ever do fancy a change.

For the sidelights you need '501' type bulbs and you should get xenon white led's. I got the following before on my car and they are so bright they pretty much light up the whole lens! They're pricey compared to others but they're bright xenon white and the brightest you can get!

sorry to burst your bubble, but 4300 is the brightest colour you can get, google it !

why do people dislike posts when they are wrong? a guy asked what the brightest white was - which is 4300k, not your suggestion of 6000k which has a hint of blue in it, oh well, spit your dummy out like a child then......

Sorry mate, I only just seen that now.. I thought I pressed "like"! Sorry dude! Never really knew that as I seen some really bright white lights! So if I got 6000k it'll only just be whiter but no brighter than 4300k?

lol - oh well - i am just in a bad mood this morning lol!!!

4300 is basically the brightest colour with no visible yellow in it, 4000 would have a slight hint of yellow, 6000 is not whiter than 4300, it's got a hint of blue in it

i admit that the higher colours look better (i have 8,000k on my ducati), but they produces less usable light - the standard set across the board was 4300, but as you can see, 4700 is a good colour too

Thanks for the post guys.

Think I possibly mislead you all though.

I want to leave the standard Xenon bulbs and get bulbs for the high beam and side lights which give a similar light to the Xenons.

What bulb fitment are the bulbs for high beam? H7?

What fitment would the indicator bulbs be?

Thanks again

Chris

Hi mate,

The description lists the following so maybe best to stay away from these.

Plastic body- not to be used close to a heat source i.e. headlight

Good buy mate, might just grab them then, give them a go, the xtreme vision bulbs are pricey.

I don't like the fried egg look of the indicators, is it possible to change the high beam / side lights without wipping the bumper off?

Chris

yea - it is a squeeze but from what i remember you can - the side lights are the worst ones to do ! fogs are the easiest!

Any recommendations for LED indicators and LED brake bulbs? I purchased a set of CANBUS LED indicators (front and rear) as well as CANBUS LED brake lights, but the car still didn't like them! Got the indicators hyperflashing with them installed (everything lights up, but the flash like mad), and the brake light throws a fault on the LCD display, but lights up as well.

Cheers!
