Central Locking Vacuum Pump

Hi all i am new to this forum so be easy on me. I have a 2006 Audi A4 Cabriolet and recently my key fob has stopped working. I firstly done the obvious and checked the batteries and replaced them with new ones but this did not work. When i press the lock on the fob it locks the boot and petrol flap and thats it does not activate the alarm or lock any of the front doors. When i manually lock the car it locks the driver door and leaves the passenger door open. The alarm lights on the doors do not flash. I am wondering if i need a new Vacuum pump could someone please help me as its doing my nut in. Also i get a left parking light error flash on the dash board have checked the bulbs and even replaced them that has not fixed it was wondering if they are both linked.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have you unplugged the battery, left for 15 mins, plugged back in and tried the key fob again? Try that first.

where would the vacuum pump be located ? iv never seen one, i was thinking each lock is driven by a mechanical electrical motor ?

I thought only B5s had the vacuum pump up until 1999ish.

Turkster I believe the pump is located in the boot on the right hand side well that's where the noise is coming from when I use the fob.

mine packs up sometimes for no reason but once the key puts the ignition back on it works great again for a month or so...new battery was fitted aswell with no difference

that may be the fuel flap lock motor, iv pulled B6's and B7's to bits and never seen one in there,

still, I thought B5s was the only A4 to have a vacuum pump but even that was short lived.


A8udi, apart from what you said, what makes you think its a vacuum pump and not a cable or control box?
Have you had VCDS on it?

Gonna get VCDS done on it today will let you know what happens.

Just had VCD done outcome is not good my convenience module is knackered. Please help does it mean I have to go and keep raped bu Audi dealers or is there a cheaper way to get it replaced.
