Hi,
Great work with the car, I keep looking to change my wheels as i hear un sprung weight is a massive problem ,
Are PCD adapters realy strong enough for track use? I was always worried about threads into alloy ( helicoiled or otherwise ) holding out after alot of heard cornering/ braking

I voted the Kawasaki Green - Even if it does look like someone's been sat there for hours with a highlighter.

Something different not the same old colour!

What you saying Jase the red and green are too predictable? You got any colour suggestions?

I do check for any wear on my PCDs whenever the wheels are off and they are very sturdy things. They also have to be TUV approved to I'm sure they get put through their paces under testing.

I've heard urban legends of PCD adapters breaking and wheels coming off but never ever seen any proof.

Not heard of anyone having issues with spacers before. I spend a lot of time on Driftworks and 90% of people on there run fair sized spacers and not seen reports of issues.

Not sure I agree with either if those points, I'm behind Westy every step of the way dont get me wrong, but it'll be hard to reach an actual 300 brake and even then the k04 is going to be maxxxxxed out.

I completely agree dude, a K04 will be flat flat flat out at 300 BHP airflow. 240 g/s is required really to hit the 300 BHP mark, however using WMI and a large port head, we might be able to get the extra power from some additional timing advance.

For example, the PE only ever used to flow 280.33 g/s (Although I suspect that that was the limit of the MAF). That's only 350 BHP's worth of airflow, however with the additional timing, she made 370 bhp.

A little extra timing goes a long way...

I genuinely think that the best chance, based on my manifold research, of hitting 300 BHP on K04 hardware lies with using the XS manifold. It flows so so well, mainly due to it's design. Thinnish runners and a great merge collector.

Time will tell...

Yeah pretty much. Indy yellow from the S2000 is a nice colour. Purple is always good :D (love purple lol)

Ive got porsche wheels on my Mk2 golf for winter and to be honest... ive rechecked the torque on the wheel bolts and they have been difrent to what i set them to... The car does get "used " hard

On a side note...
The wheel colour, I would say purple or blue
Be diffrent. We have a green at work thats a colour like the green you mention... In the flesh it just doesnt work IMO

The two colours you have selected are not wild enough to not look tacky,
Sorry just my opinion, I realy dont get wild colours on wheels be them track ones or road,
Each to their own though

Great thread westy enjoyed reading it.

On a seperate note westy is a top man and has helped me out a few times in the past.

Westy next car (the Limited Edition Polo Harlequin!)... with those rims.... sicker than a bulimia victim after a three course dinner!

Just collected my R32 ARB from VW. Thanks to Jason again for that.

Not really driven my car much since my track day at Bedford until today and I'm loosing boost somewhere. Used to peak at 21psi and hold 19-20psi but now it's only holding 16psi :( time to hunt the problem down.

That sucks.
when you fitting the ARB?

Fitted my R32 ARB tonight. Nice easy job, and here's some pics for anyone wanting to try it:

You may find that a lot of the bolts and holes in the heat shield are corroded away and I had one bit fixed last year by my local exhaust place.

When I picked the car up from them the guy told me he had to "weld a custom bracket" to fix it........ this is what I found:

"custom". Ok I''ll give you that, but "bracket" WTF! This is a piece of plate metal with a nut on it. There appears to be a piece of coat hanger that has been welded onto the plate so the guy could hold it still while he but the bolt into the thread!!!! Anyway it works and he only charged me £5 but I wont be using them again!

With the heatshield and exhaust brackets loose there is just a centre exhaust rubber holding it all up, Tack this off the mid section and prop up the back box:

Now unbolt the 2 screws each side that hold the ARB brackets on:

You can then remove the ARB:

Just as I went to take the car for a spin it started to lightly rain so I started off taking it easy. I found a few big roundabouts that I know what the cars limits are round it. I was amazed that even in the wet it was very reluctant to understeer at all! I'm sure I've had understeer in the dry at the speeds I just went around in the wet!!! Very impressed.

Cant wait to see the difference on track at Brands Hatch in January. :racer:

Edited for truth, oh and sexy tailpipe mate.

Glad to see it's so easy to do, and makes such a big difference. Another well written report by you as well mate. Was your lnm partner in crime there, or were you a 1 man band tonight?

1 man band tonight as Tam wasn't allowed out to play after spending the entire weekend work on his mates car. I tend to take more pics when I'm on my own anyway.

The tailpipe is fkn shocking. You can see why I want to get a cat back put on ASAP! I've got a blow torch here to soften the welds on the other bit of trim so I can remove it.
