i want a few suggestions please because i dont know what to do.
I would like to upgrade my car with some turbos and staff but i do not know much.

for example i would like to start with engine building changing the oem rods with scat ones but i do not know the dimensions.
then i would like to change the exhaust valves(8 pcs) with other ones. what should i look what make?
i will leave the pistons the same but should i change something else?

after building the engine what turbo must i choose? external wastegate?
intercooler dimensions? fuel injectors?

any help is appreciated!!!!

Before tuning a car you need to know how much power you want and then work back from that...

Just asking what turbo etc you want is pointless without knowing your power goals....

How much power are you after and what are you using the car for?

i want 450-500 horse power and i use the car for travelling purposes.

sell and buy an s4 / rs4 or s2 / rs2 if you like old school, you'll spend thousands and get none of it back

if you are doing it as a hobby then do it, but good luck getting 450 bhp out of it without spending the value of the whole car again

Basically for that kinda power you are looking at something like a GTX3071r or GT3076r turbo...

You will need to change the rods and rebuild the head using uprated valves and springs etc

Parts wise...
Turbo (GTX371/GT3076)
Tubular exhaust manifold
External wastgate (tial)
3" DP and exhaust system
Large FMIC (AH Fabs or modified toyosports)
Supertech valves and springs
AEB/AGU large port head
Rods
Big end shells
Larger injectors
Inline fuel pump
Custom TIP to suit turbo
plus various other pipes and hoses etc... custom water pipes and oil drains etc... extra heatshielding
And not forgetting a custom map

As Andrew and others have implied... the cost of the hardware is expensive enough and then factor in labour and all the fabrication then you are looking at quite a large figure...

Really does depend what you want at the end of teh day... both Andrew and I have gone big turbo but we have done the work ourselves so there are cost savings and I personally am not the sort of person that buys a faster car when I want more power....

However there is a lot to be said for buying something more powerful out the box colicabcadam has 'suggested'... a fellow member and friend has done similar and bought an RS4...

There will always be people that prefer to upscale to get the power and those that enjoy getting the most (even if it costs alot) from what they have...

Either way budget anywhere from £6000 upwards....

i think tuffy hit the nail on the head

be prepared to loose money or be prepared to hang onto the car for a long time, spending £6,000 on the car will not make it worth a penny more and in some cases it can make it harder to sell too

if you buy a more powerful car, you'll loose a LOT less cash in the long run

the cost of an s3 plus £6,000 plus a little bit more cash can get you a very nice rs4 which will loose a little if not no value at all

you can pick them up with 450/450 already, i choose to go standard (380/325) because the car i saw had all the expensive components recently changed (brakes all round, clutch, cam belt, tyres)

like i said, if you are doing it as a hobby do it, you'll enjoy it! however, if you just want a car with 400 bhp you're going the wrong and expensive way around it!

I don't need to say anymore as its all there /\ /\ /\

Also forgot you will need better brakes and some sort of coilover kit

My brakes cost me £1500 all round so you will have to add that to the list

Good point... easy to forget getting the stopping and chassis in order...

my car has already installed bilstein pss9 8 months ago.
here in greec is difficult to change to bigger engines as the taxes are too many so i have decided to stay with 8L S3. thus i decided to upgrade the engine. otherwise i would change it with rs4 easilly.

staying with the same car i want something more of it and i will fix it alone as a hobby but dont want to spend all this cash.
if i change only conrods and external valves for the engine can i get to 450 horsepower without trouble?

rods what make do you suggest? scat? IE? do you have links maybe? should they be riffle drilled??

IE Con rods on std pistons will be ok for 450bhp... rifle drilled will make sure oil gets to the little end bearings... with big turbo power you would need to change the valve gear to supertech really and make sure you change the exhaust valve guides as these wear from relatively low mileage...

What I listed in my post still stands... that is the minimum kit you will need to get the power you want... you will save money by doing the work yourself...

For prices try INTEGRATED ENGINEERING Forged VW/AUDI Connecting Rods, JE, Wiseco, Mahle, Ferrea, Supertech, ARP and ATP TURBO - The Premiere Provider of Turbocharging Components

You don't need to use a tubular mani which is more expensive but you will need external gate...

You could also try something like this...
Audi TT225HP / Audi S3 Quattro Big Turbo Kit: CTS Turbo

Badger 5 is using this kit for a TT due in Christmas time using a GT3076r

i will change only the exhaust valves or do i need to change all of them?
exhaust valve guides i will change for sure which make to choose? oem i think that you cannot buy is it true?
so you suggest riffle drilled rods? do you have a link from eu? not us? because i will pay customs if i buy from us.

Weh-hey, really pleased to see you guys in Greece are still modding given the international news we get here in Britain! Our media tell us your financial crisis is so bad you'll be selling your own kids for medical research just to eat and keep warm!!!

Understand the situation with the tax, but getting a daily driver to this kind of level will be a significant ongoing challenge. Do yu really need 500bhp? You could do something more sustainable and save yourself a lot of money and still get close to 400 with a BT conversion and maybe a WMI set up? (Seen a few daily driver Leons running this kind of power on another forum without too much trouble).

Whatever you do, best of luck, and plan it carefully to make sure you go on the right journey.

thanks man i am thinkng 400 horse power and at most 450. i think that is will be not much trouble...

Change all the valves and springs... I have these..
Supertech 1.8T 20V Valve Spring/Titanium Retainer Set
Supertech 1.8T 20V Intake Valve Set Single Groove
Supertech 1.8T 20V Exhaust Valve Set INCONEL Single Groove

Replace just the exhaust valve guides as these are ones that wear... you will need to get this done by an engineering shop... I would look for a large port head though to replace your small port one and build that... use your cams, followers and VVT tensioner...

Yes, use rifle drilled rods if you can stretch to that...

Bill at Badger 5 can get this stuff but he gets his gear from the US too so they will still end up costing the same... the choice is yours of course..
