owering springs

hi guys im new here so apoligies if i am posting in the wrong place. Have been loking for some lowering springs for my 1.9 tdi a4 there are some on ebay but the seller does not know if they are compatible they are from a 2.0 20v of the same make and year. does any one know if the spring ratings will be the same.

firstly is your car a SE or sport ?

SE models should be compatable between diesel/petrol but sport models have shorter shock absorbers and springs are shorter so not compatable on SE models.......

Be careful what you're recommending, diesel models have different load ratings to petrol I imagine.

Yeah from what I know the diesel and petrol models have different kits as James said. There's people on here far better qualified to give advice to what to buy etc though.

car is a se and springs are eibach i know 1.6 and 1.8 petrol apex springs arnt compatable with the diesel. Not sure about the 2.0 20v though

i was going off the eibach e bay adds they state 1.6 petrol to 1.9tdi all models all versions compatable..... i dont know myself

What I will say about eibach springs, from my own personal experience is firstly they are very good quality but they do not lower as much as they state,, I first put the pro-kit on my car which is an SE,,as I wanted to lower it 30mm being 10mm lower than a standard sport/s-line but they didn't even lower it as much as a sport ,, after complaining to my supplier they finally agreed and gave me the sport-line kit which should lower between 45 and 55mm i think from memory,,, when fitted they actually just managed to give me the 30mm drop I wanted in the first place...

I have heard before that eibach springs didnt lower the stated amount what about h&r springs are they any better? Don't want it to low about 30 40 mm would do need to firm up the spongie se suspension lol

No idea , but my SE is now sitting approx 30mm lower with a firmer ride,, and have been fine on the original shocks for almost 2yrs now...

A lot of the confusion ref lowering amounts arises from the fact that the manufacturers usually quote the drop as being from standard ride height (ie SE). As the Sports are 20mm lower you need to take that into account if you're lowering a Sport, or you might be disappointed by the amount of drop you get.

Exactly my point when I complained to my supplier,, My car is an SE and it took the sportline kit which should lower between 45 to 55mm to give the drop that the pro-kit claimed to give 30mm,,, proving that neither set give a true drop !!!
