Ive recently cleaned my car ready for winter...
Washed
Clayed
Polished
Sealed
Dodo blue velvet pro wax
over the next week 3 coats of Dodo rain forrest rub.

Now im thinking is there a good "soft" or "quick wax" i could use if the weather and time allow over the winter months?
Megs ultimate quick wax?
Poor boys natty paste?
More of my rain forrest rub?

Megs or Nattys both good, Megs NXT tends to be a good one for winter as well as it is part synthetic and will only add to your sealant, then use the rain forest rub if you wanna give her a treat (that is pure carnauba i think)
Meguiars Ultimate Liquid Wax only £26.49 annd if you use the coupon code 'audisport' you will get 10% off and free delivery.

I'd stick with the dodo juice waxes you already have. I've never had much faith in any liquid waxes I've used in the past as the durability doesn't seem to compete with the hard waxes.

My personal preference for winter wax is collinite 476

Hi,

I find the chemical guy range spot on - tried meguiars and auto glym but the chemical guys is spot on - i normally

De cleanse clean
Citrus wash
all in 1 polish
butter wax

i use dodo juice supernatural hybrid over winter and normal supernatural over summer , for quick going over after a wash i use chemical guys P40 quick detailer its awesome and very good value for money

My personal preference for winter wax is collinite 476

+1 for 476 which should see you through the worst of it. All I add then is the occasional spritz of z8 after washing.

Colly 476 is a must for winter but it will more than likely remove what you have underneath it to a certain degree....over waxing isnt really necessary just a waste of product as each layer effectively removes a part of the previous layer...2 coats or primarily done for coverage and to ensure all the surface is protected....

I would do is strip the previous layers....for a base layer use EZ Creme Glaze or Wet Mirror Finish from Chemical Guys and top with 476....you will not only get your winter protection but also your shine that you asked for....

Another fan of Supernatural Hybrid here. For both either hybrid or 476 2 coats is more than sufficient...been doing a layer of Jetseal 109 first on my winter protections

i think supernatural hybrid is very good value for money if you use it correctly it goes a long way , loads of people put too much on in one go , i got myself a panel pot of supernatural to try it out before i buy a big pot and i did my car around 4-5 times with that little pot

I was of the thinking Dodo actualy recomended multi layering the wax?

I agree mate, dodo stuff is good. Although I've been trying out wolf chemicals Nano Wrap, its goes on so easily and takes no buffing and lasts just as well.

i layered normal supernatural with hybrid for the winter one coat of each will apply another coat of each soon before the snow arrives
gonna get some on mine soon i think maybe a coat of orange crush then supernatural hybrid over the top

Being a detailer myself I'd recommend, for the winter, goin on last years forecast Collinote 476S Super Doublecoat wax. Great for winter. And then top up after with an amazing new product by Zaino- Clear seal. It's a synthetic protectant that you can use safely as a top up over your wax. But be warned, DO NOT USE IT DIRECTLY AFTER REMOVING WAX. there's no need and it will make your life hell trying to remove the residue Of both mixing before appropriate time!!
The Zaino is perfect for the winter, when you've givin your car a through clean just wipe it on and let it dry in. And that's it !!!!
No waiting for curing time, fast applied and just let it dry in with out worry about the next rain shower. This stuff is genius.
Now don't worry, when you apply it it will look all oily but after a short period it just disappears and leaves a nice top up coat.

Hope this helps.

Yea its fantastic stuff. its just a matter of time until it sky rockets i recon :)
You can use it on anthing, glass wheels plastic (havent tried it on plastic yet so cant recommend it there)
Im not sponsering any site, i just really like the customer service Clean my car.co.uk give me, and the delivery time is brilliant. anyway...
heres a link to the page ; Zaino - Z-CS Clear Seal - Clean Your Car

Collinite is a great choice as your base over Winter.

For 'top ups' take a look at Optimum Car Wax (Version 2) which is a SUPERB Spray Wax - it takes minutes to get a coat down, which gives you a months' durability on its own.

You can get it from CYC and Elite.

wouldnt go with any Zaino product in these temps unless you are applying it indoors...whilst it is a superb brand and i use it myself it doesnt fully cure in temps below 8c....stick with Colly 476 and when it warms up get a kit of Z2,ZFX,Z6 and Z8....that lot will cost about £50 but will see you through many years....and come next year you could apply plenty of layers at the end of October and not worry about it till the following Spring....

And I think RussZS will agree....

Indeed - Zaino is great, but not below 8-10 degrees, as it'll take an age to fully cure! So unless working in a heated garage, it's probably too cold to go for now.

I'm just not a huge 476S fan myself - much prefer 845, but its not quite as durable perhaps.

Russ.

Yep 845 on our Navara applied about a month and a half go and still beading lovely plus as it's a liquid it much easier to apply on such a large vehicle
