Hi I have the Audi A4 2.0T FSI Quattro DTM, not sure what type of lights come with these models does anybody know? - I have also noticed that the side lights are quite dull yellow which I’m thinking of changing for brighter bulbs any suggestions of a brighter type of bulbs would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

James

Some came with xenons some non sadly. I want xenons on mine but they're really expensive!!

id love xenons for mine too but serious cashola theres another thread on here if they are slightly discolored showing how u can polish the headlight its self this will brighton up the light as it wont distorte so much some pics would help us give some more accurate advice mind

oh one other thing id suggest is if you have the orange reflector in the headlight swap it for a clear one

You mean like this (sorry couldn't resist):-

can you take a photo of your lights & upload it so i can see the difference

Cheers

just checked mine and the difference is obvious :sob: Thanks anyway ! i well want some of those xenon lights now are they a straight swap ?

the xenon's make mine look snide - haha!!!:wtf:

There an easy swap. You need a wire harness from Kufatec (about £50 if I remember correctly).

It does invole taking the bumper off, and then running a wire through the drivers wheel well into the passanger compartment under the steering wheel. Its fairly easy, I've done it twice now and its fairly easy, take about 2 or 3 hours including removing and replacing the bumper.

Then you need headlamp washers (dtm has) and auto levelling. Jazzy days want about £2200 for this :-/

Guys i think you Miss understood my question im talking about bulbs not the glass and i do have the headlight washer, im thinking of changing the side light as these look yellow when the LOW BEAM lights are on at night

Can i get a brighter bulb that will match the LOW BEAM if so which make/model ?

Cheers

yes you can get a brighter bulb to match the lows

give hids direct a call
tell him what you have and what you want and he will sort you a match

ouch thas fair chunk of cash lol do u really need washers?

Legally. Yes.
Reality. No.

There is supposed to be a crackdown on illegal xenon lights, but this has supposedly been coming for a couple of years. Never had a problem with any of my last 3 cars that have all had xenons retrofitted.

Keep an eye on the classifieds, and on eBay (I managed to pick up my complete set for £200). Just remember you need the ballasts with both the headlights as well, so if you see a really cheap headlight/set it'll be theres no ballast and bulb.

I'm waiting to see some info on hid's for mot time. They said it'd be illegal next year but nothing as yet. I'm guessing some normal h7 brighter bulbs or hid kit but as for how long you can have it fitted is unknown

yeah seen a few cheep ones on the bay n theywere without ballast's im on there all the time tring to nab a bargin
so if u retro fit xenons without washers they will be illegal? y do xenons have to have washers?

Yes, if you retrofit with washers they will be illegal. To be technically legal you also need auto-levelling sensors. I think you need the washers as incase you get something on the headlight and it creates bad glare to oncoming drivers, and the sensors are for when you are going over bumps I believe.

I wouldn't be too worried at the moment about you getting pulled over or not MOTd. As long as you don't have them pointing up or sideways, and don't go for the blue/purple lights, you should be fine for now at least.

6000K is perfect, 8000k are too blue and look chavvy!
