Hello people of Merkovo!

As many already know, I bought jojo's s3 without the haldex working. We sourced it to a faulty haldex controller so changing it would be the best thing to do.. Joe managed to source one but the guy he got it off cut the wires so I had to take my controller off on the car currently and snip the wires to rejoin, either way the old one didnt work so not really too bothered about that. Sadly no pics of my handy soldering job with the wires (not pretty either) but putting the controllers side to side, there are some differences, may be due to some improvement to the design of some sort:

The one on the left was the one that we didnt know worked or not (the new one) and the one on the right is the one that was on the car.. The gaskets are different although you could use the metal one for both but the left one has a grove for the o-ring where the one on the right hasnt, its just a flat surface. i decided to use the o-ring still as it was in good condition and i didnt want to risk any leaks.. lost enough oil as it is so a haldex oil change is due now.. Yet to put it on the car, only just secured it on to stop it leaking oil out. will get some gasket seal just to be sure, then i'll apply it and see if i have 4wd! shall post tomorrow once i have done!

Should be noted that the haldex is hydraulic and therefore there is some pressure involved... you maybe better off taking the part numbers to a dealer and make sure you have a) the right part for your car, b) the right seals... no idea what could happen should the oil leak out but it probably won't be pretty and may well be expensive...

Worth checking tbh for piece of mind as there are subtle differences between the ESP and non ESP controllers IIRC and may well be other changes over the years too

Will do tufty, thanks for that. I've had some oil drip out because when i plugged the holes in the haldex, it came out and i found abit of a puddle on the floor when i came back!! hope that doesnt do any damage as im gonna have to top up/change the oil which was on my to-do list next week. Looking at the two parts wiring wise, there isnt any differences in the colours of the wires.. but will check. Anyone got etka that could have a look at the part numbers?

checked ETKA and the part numbers for the controller from 97-03 are the same which is 02D900554C.

And thats the one i've just put on the car! The controller on the left has a grove where the holes are for the o-rings to fit so i thought it'd be best to keep them in and just touch it up with abit of sealant. Put the controller on wired it up and triple checked everything. didnt tighten the bolts tooooo tights as i thought it might uneven the surface of the haldex. But went out for a cheeky spin, not pushing it hard or anything, just to check it doesnt wheelspin in 1st (as its pretty wet outside and thats what it used to do when i 1st got it) and hey presto it works! :yahoo: Im gonna keep a close eye on it just incase and also im changing the haldex oil and filter for added piece of mind next week.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I've got the controller on the right off ebay, does anyone know if that is for a facelift model?

Cheers!
