Is tesco Momentum worth a punt??

There is a new tesco near my work that sells it
I usualy try to stick to V power, I just wondered if this stuff is any good??

I use tesco almost exclusively, and its perfectly fine.

I'm there anyway doing the shopping, whereas i'd have to drive to Shell and its in the completely opposite direction AND more expensive.

Tesco also do 5p off vouchers pretty regularly, so it works out the same price as standard juice.

sometimes, like the other week, they have signs by products in the shop saying 'buy 3 tropicana 1.5l bottles of juice and get 5p off per litre of petrol'

it changes weekly. its been juice and lynx body spray that i can remember

Tesco 99 ron momentum is THE BEST FUEL available

I use this when I'm not by a shell garage, which is most the time, it's still 99 octane which is what vpower is

i think there was a test done by redline mag or fast car, abit chav i know but i think they gave tesco fuel the thumbs up

I agree with all you guys, when I used to run forumula fords where every last hp is critical we did dyno tests with every higher octance fuel availible (from the pump) and tesco 99 came out on top, ran it ever since.

No issues here, but then if you can run a diesel on used chip fat I don't suppose running different types of S/UL fuels should be too bad.

I've always wondered whether Tesco fuel would put any extra strain on rubber seals (degradation) with its magic mix, but no evidence of this so pure speculation.

Was strangely enough talking to an old boy yesterday about this... he had a wierd theory ( that would be almost impossible to prove...
)
V power is the best out of pump fuel, Its made to be the best it can be,
Tesco mommentum is UL made upto 99 ron with additives
He seems to think that if the Tesco fuel is stored for a period of time ( over 6 weeks) it becomes better than the V power,
Im not sure Fuel would mature with age like a good wine .

ive used tesco 99 for ages now always feels better after prolonged use.

A lil test to try. Get some 99 in for a few fill ups then get it nearly empty and try some normal bp fuel and ull see the difference

Don't use vpower or Tesco but I've been using sainsburys premium fuel as its a lot cheaper and high octane. no problems so far. my SIS put regular fuel in at it felt soo slugish

I read that Tesco fuel was never very consistent due to the fact that the octane level gets worse the longer it sits in the tank at a petrol station.

To be fair I dont think you'd ever be able to feel a difference. Have you ever seen any difference on Bill's rollers between Shell and Momentum?

EDIT, oh and as if it matters what fuel you run when your WMI effective boosts the octane anyway! You might as well run 95 RON.

I could feel the difference in my old high compression NA vauxhall 16v motor, so i cant see any reason why you wouldnt be able to feel it on a tuned turbocharged engine where its even more important.

Knock causes the ECU to ****** the timing and reduce requested load, meaning you'll get less boost, less timing and less power. The more tuned an engine is the bigger the difference. I'd bet you'd see a fairly substantial drop in power on a 300hp S3 between 95 and 98 octane fuel.

Plus Welly runs WMI which increases the octane level.

When I went to the Ring last year I did a lap with VCDS running and measuring ignition timing while on the 103RON stuff they sell out there. On the logs there was hardly any pull compared to on 99RON but I couldn't feel the difference.

I think MRC did a European S4 recently and the 102octane fuel gave about +30hp on a similarly tuned (~500hp) S4 motor.

Since I've been on a Stage 2 map the car has had nothing but 99 shell or the 103 stuff from Germany. It was mapped for 99.

Last year when I did the test I was running with an ultra poo map that was running lean and ruined my turbo.

Use to fill with V-Power, now I use Testo 99 almost every time, I hav'nt felt any difference.

I use both as I have a Shell Garage and a Tesco Garage both near were I live and the only difference I see is the 12p a litre I save with the Momentum....

I use Tesco 99,. I get more miles per tank and the car feels nicer to drive.

I put some regular in not long ago and I could tell the difference.

Vpower has better qualities than Tesco ie knock reduction as tested by a few tuners. But then does cost more and the rewards arent as great.
