My hopes of needing a new ABS sensor have been quashed by VAG COM telling me that I have a sporadic issue with my Longitudinal Acceleration Sensor.

I believe Audi charge over £100 for a replacement, but am wondering if there's anywhere else I may be able to get one from?

It's probably not even worth buying a second-hand one as I believe they've got to be programmed in via a full VAG COM unit and for it to become faulty 3-6 months later is wasted money.

I have bought Wheel speed sensors from Euro Car Parts before that have only lasted 3 months and I've only saved myself maybe £20.

My advice would be to buy a genuine one. You buy cheap and you buy twice, trust me.

I called up Euro Car Parts and they said that they wouldn't even do me the sensor that I need and that I'd need to go to a dealer direct.
Looks like I'm paying out >£100 then + labour.

Forget labour mate. Change it yourself it's fairly straight forward. I'll try and find a guide.

Also try getting a quote from Stoke Audi on here as it might be slightly cheaper than your local dealer and he can post it to you.

mine was £131 from TPS, and took 5 mins to change i did it in the carpark outside TPS actually :p

Ah right ok - Yeah I thought you had to have them programmed in but if it's a 5 minute job then all's well! I've been researching it all day and have found where they are located (I believe by your left knee on pre-facelift on the passenger footwell up front).

Remove the Glove box (a few bolts) take off the dash end panel (open passenger door) it pulls off. remove the multiple torx/bolts and the inner panel will come off, can get at the sensor then, i found it easier to remove it with the bracket then change it and put it back. then after that first time i started it the light never came back on. happy days

Well what about the sensor under the steering wheel?

ive got one of these in the workshop, PM me for details

Well what about the sensor under the steering wheel?

the lateral sensor you mean? if you mean longitudinal sensor then some i believe are under the steering colomn but mine a facelift was still on the passenger side.

Facelift ones are under the steering wheel which makes life a bit easier. Mine had a bent bracket so wasn't sitting completely flat. Worth noting there's a calibration feature in vagcom for them also.

Mine is a facelift and it was behind the glovebox...

Very odd - everywhere I've read (and mine) has both sensors under the steering wheel. Is yours an 01?

I thought this originally then was told that on facelift there's a "dual sensor" (yaw and latitude) and then a longitudinal sensor (G200).

All sorted. Getting one bought and fitted all-in for £50.00 on Saturday.
