audi a3 170pd remap

Can anyone recommend a good tuning company that knows how to remap an 06 Audi a3 170 PD without causing any issues with the dpf? Been searching on the net and cant find anything?
Apparently Awesome gti can't do the 170 pd's

Try Celtic Tuning, although they are based in Cornwall they offer a mobile service. I've used them before and am about to get my 140tdi pd done with them. These are the stats they quote for the 170: [h=2]Audi A3 (03>) 2.0 TDi PD 167 bhp[/h]

I'm not sure what gains I got but I'm going to a rolling road day soon so I'll find out then.

So far I have noticed better acceleration while overtaking a it also seems a bit smother all theough the rev range. Got the blue fin reset and ready to go for only £240.

Hi mate, go to AmD, they do a custom remap, they tune within your cars safety limits, and tweak the map until it suits.
Regarding the DPF, obviously I'd you are doing a lot of stop/start city driving then there is chance you will have more probs, but if you do a lot of motorway driving and take care of the car, then you should be fine.
IMHO would always go for a custom map, especially on 170pd, as of the shelf maps such as Revo, Sharkfin etc are not tuned to your specific settings. Remember, each car that rolls out the factory new, are all slightly different.

Am from Manchester so i can give them a call. I am also really tempted to travel to amd and get a custom remap. I just find that my old golf mk4 tdi 150 felt more responsive compare to my current 170.

I had my old 170 remapped. It was a Quattro so I didn't think twice about it. If yours isn't, then prepare to see your TC light every time you come off a side turn/roundabout. Especially in the wet!

As for the remap, it'll be a lot smoother. Not that you have to worry about changing gears when overtaking in a TDi because of the grunt, but it's something that's more obvious when mapped. I remember being in 5th, doing 30mph. Put your foot down and you're off!

Now I used a company called Richter Sport who use Superchips maps on the TDi. I had issues with it to begin with. There was sometimes hesitation under heavy acceleration. This was due to them pushing the limits a bit and the engine was running too lean under certain conditions. I went in again, they changed the map and it was better. Not 100%, but much better. The hesitations were coming in less often. So I wouldn't really recommend a Superchips map TBH. AMD could be a good choice as them seem to know what they are doing.

As far as the DPF goes, as mentioned above, if you do a bit of motorway driving every now and then you've got nothing to worry about. If you do a lot of town driving with a heavy right foot doing stop/start stuff then you'll have the DPF light come on. It's not the end of the world because you can go on a trip to regenerate it, but it is a pain in the ***. I had mine changed. I think it was within the first year of ownership. To be fair it was a bit my fault because I ignored the light, thinking to myself I'll do it on an other trip until 3 days later I went into limp mode and the whole DPF needed replacing. Luckily Audi did it for me under warranty. So my tip is, if you see the light come on, go on a re-gen ASAP!

On the whole though, I think you haven't got to worry about the DPF when mapped. The only reason people have it removed is to gain more power. My 2p.

As I said mate, AmD are amazing, really know their stuff. When my 170 was mapped, I got gains of 208 bhp, and that was within my cars safety limit! It completely transformed the ride, smoother, faster, and best of all better MPG.
Just another note on the DPF, don't bother getting it removed because as of 2012 it will fail your MOT if it has been removed and all those that have done this will need to have this re-installed.
Can't remember where but we had a thread about this not too long ago.

I bought one of the Alientech boxes and maps all in one; that dyno run was at a RR day beginning of October with 30d egree inlet temps!!

Speak to either Nick or Craig and tell them Rhyso pointed you in their direction and they'll look after you :thumbsup: Its such a smooth map you don't quite realise just how fast you're travelling. I'll be going back up next year at some point for DPF removal

The good thing about the dpf in place is that under hard acceleration i get zero smoke compare to my bmw x5 330d...BIG puff . So assuming if i did remove the dpf the car will start to smoke under acceleration...any thoughts

As I said I've had no problems with the blue fin. The car seems quicker and smoother through the rev range. I've had no issues with the TC kicking in.
It's the first superchips map I've had on a car I previously had a dreamscience map on my Focus ST which as again another off the shelf map that I had no problems with. I don't see why people are so quick to diss these maps, they have features on a lot of the motoring magazines are must be very popular as there are some of the biggest suppliers out there.

For me it was £200 well spent. Not sure what difference a custom map would make or the cost difference but up my way there aren't that many places to choose from.

That only applies to cars built AFTER July 2008 remember and getting rid of DPF is one of the best option you can do to your car believe me No MOT issues and much better throttle response.
