Fusebox Immobiliser ?

If i was to fit an immobiliser, what would be the best fuse to tap into behind the fusebox ?

I don't want to tap into the starter as i want it to be able to make the engine cut out if its running.
 
Your car will already have one fitted mate.
 
I know mate, s3's standard alarms are meant to be thatcham approved but their utter ****e haha.
 
The obvious one would be fuel pump mate

If the car was being revved up and you pulled the fuel pump fuse, can it f*ck anything up?
 
I’ve just been thinking (i know i shouldn't do that....lol) ....

If the locks work on a pump, does that mean i wont be able to use the doors as one of the triggers?

There are typically three fuses for the EFI system. each car/model/year varies a bit, but typically one covers the coils, one covers the injectors and fuel pump, and one covers everything else.

Use the wiring diagram and find out what they do and pick the best one to cut. Personally i'd do the coils, as it cuts power immediately.
 
I think I've found the answer to one of my questions.


What confused me was that i was looking at a fuse diagram that listed both 28 and 29 as being for the fuel pump.

But i looked at the diagram on the car and it shows that the fuel pump is fuse 28:






I still need to know if the car was running at high revs and the immobiliser kicked in and cut the fuel pump fuse.....

Would it damage the engine in any way ?
 
aragorn has said that if he has time he will look up the wiring diagram and let me know what fuse i would need to cut for the coil packs.....


But i thought there's no harm in asking the rest of you just in case he don't find time.....lol


So does anyone know what fuse controls the coil packs?
