Well guys and gals, I've been out rollin'. Racked up a mighty 6 miles to take her up to 42 in total (some other pikes thrashed her about for 36 miles

Obviously I'm getting used to the newness, and feeling the differences between a car that's done 56,000 less than the last.

Things I'm enjoying that I didn't have before:
Hi-Def RNS-e
Foldy uppy mirrors
White DIS
Needle sweep (nom nom semi time!)
Upspecced dash centre console
More options in DIS
AMI
Big SDHC cards
New car smell!

The best bit:
Panther black crystal paint - even the people in the dealership were saying it was a great colour. Well worth a couple of extra quid.

Anyway enough gobbling off from me, here's a couple of photos of the old and new sat side by side. Apologies they are not good photos as dealership lighting / dark of night with a diddy flash was a nightmare.

Farewell to 07, she's never let us down.

I'll do some proper photos in the next day or so once it's been spacered, Jetseal 109'd.

Thanks for all your support during the wait, I can't wait to do the drive to Cheltenham tomorrow and rack up some miles!

I almost can't believe it's finally here!!! We went shopping after we picked it up and when we came out it was almost bizarre looking for another car. Never owned a car as long as '07, but it's amazing how much seems to have evolved between 8P2 and 8P3. Grinning like a chimp! Need to start playing catch up now getting some quality mods, and very tempted by your grille!

Will really miss old S3, we had great road trips in her. Driving out of the showroom glass doors felt bizarre ( a bit thief-ish!)

Very nice, and shiny! Gotta love the black on black, especially when newly polished under fluorescent lights.

Even with 1 dealer wash there is some tiny swirls, but in the main paint looks good. Can't beat some decent lighting to make it glow!

Well done mate looks identical to mine....but Black..Ive done 4k miles now and it still smells like new..When they work they really are a little bit special..and when they dont, you cant help but forgive them

I can see why you can forgive!! Genuinely, and this isn't just new car giddiness, the new car feels more tactile in its switches, and everything just feels slightly slicker and less clunky than in my 8P2. Somehow they've managed to make it feel like a more quality product by doing very subtly changes but the end result is quite marked. Only negative is the speakers don't sound as good (still Bose), but maybe they just need running in.

That aside, it's all good! Thanks for all the kind words folks.

Stage 2+ with some basic suspension mods (WALK/lowered/uprated rear engine mounts/rear ARB).

Toying with TT-S quad pipe back box and RS3 grille, but depends on how well commission bonus pays out in 2012!

Odd question but whats the paint like? Does it have a large content of flake or is it more of a slick deep black? Looks stunning !

It's bizarre, almost hard to describe. From a distance it's deep black, but look through the black (almost gives you eye craze) it looks like this: (robbed from another site):

make sure you take proper cars of it tho black is a right pain to keep from swirling i should know a clean cars for a living and hate seeing the state of some black cars that come in but they look awesome when fresh

Will do, wife's getting me snow foam lance from Xmas, then 2 bucket washes, and sealed with the Jetseal.

Want to have at least 1 proper valet/detail per year to keep it at its best

sweet mate black looks so nice when shiny , yeah just make sure you don't take your baby to one of these tesco "hand car washes" they ruin your car they don't have a clue how to wash a car safely esp a black one swirl city after if you do lol , i use dodo juice supernatural on mine its awesome stuff to be fair but if you want to really look after your paint get some raceglaze black label wax it aint cheap but oh my its soo worth it esp on a car of that value

Lovely ain't it?! I really liked the Lava Grey on my A3 and the colour that brought out in the sun, but this is better! Won't be long before you start calling her 'The Panther'. It's what I do lol. Congrats again. Looking forward to the mods you'll be doing!
