Starting the process of getting the car back to standard - inc. pics of de-build!

Woz where are you going to get the intake ceramic coated as I have a itg and was going to paint the metal bits ibis but getting it ceramic coated sounds nice

I think most will go on his brand new s3 soon

Excellent guide. I don't have an S3 or any mods like yours Warren, yet I was engrossed. Very interesting thread, thanks.

Interesting read warren. Just how different is the s3 in stock form then?

Its OK, but it lacks the immediacy, urgency and shove in the back the S2+. S2+ is a whole different ball game to even S2, it's everything the car should be but isnt. Turned a car from something I was considering binning after 3 months into something I've bought again. Can't really put it clearer than that!

I'm sure I speak for alot of others on here.. Whats for sale? :whistle2:

****** all, I must be approached every day about this, but I AM BUYING A NEW S3 , I promise!

It's interesting to hear how the standard S3 can feel so constrained. This still is, remember, a car capable to 0-60 in the mid 5s, 0-100 in the mid 13s and blistering all weather backroad pace straight out of the box!

I had a Stage 2 LCR before the S3, and the S3 felt quick off the line, but not in the midrange. They do free up with some mileage on them, but they're not what I'd call a soulful drive which means they feel slower than they are. With a good clutch and S2+ you can achieve high 4's rather than mid 5's and that's when it begins to feel properly quick. Don't get me wrong, it's no slouch, but the TBE, CAI, Pump and S2+ make the car sound great, go great and add that missing dimension which help remind you its not just a grown up hot hatch. Adds some Jeckyl to the Hyde!

Not sure, Andy Jackson at ITG was saying it can be done so I wanted to ask where. Next dilemma, silver or black?...

When I find out I'll let you know.

Haldex drivetrain losses make a noticeable difference in 4th gear and above, 2wd TFSIs feel more lively.

Wheels now cleaned up and back from being balanced:

And makeshift glovebox bracket bodged into place to keep it from falling off! No mocking the roughness of the job, this was done in under 30 minutes, and it covers of a basic requirement that it doesn't hag off when opened. That will do for now!

And a Halfraud's value tax disc holder to replace the Richbrook Audi one being ported to new car.

Fit the wheels on her this 'avo and it's ready to go back from where she came.

Jobs a good un.

Well the wait is nearly over!!!

Went in the dealers yesterday to get an update on why I'm still driving a slightly aged 'dolphin' S3 and not a spangly new 'Panther' one and it turns out after placing the order in late April the car will be ready collect.........tomorrow night! (or maybe Tuesday morning worst case). Car is actually at the dealers, not that I got to see it as they have a separate PDI centre elsewhere.

Managed to get the aluminium trims from a standard S3 (non BE) fitted for FREE, APR at 7.6% on the finance balance, and FREE GAP / alloy wheel cover / Supagard (interior only - exterior not wanted) / tyre cover.

To be honest the sales guy (Brian), and the finance guy (Asif) have been absolutely brilliant with us during the overly lengthy sales process, and only a slightly poor trade in value (which is now under review) has tainted the experience other than the excessive long wait.

God it's felt like a long wait for what to be frank is a pretty ordinary car. One day and counting!!! :arco:

this thread has been a great read. is your new one a sb or 3dr? also is MY12 ( makes year) ?

3dr hatch MY12.

Just ordered a set of 12mm per wheel HR spacers from a guy in our classified section called Seb, a bottle of Jetseal 109 to seal the black paint, then calling DPM in the morning for some 15mm per wheel spacers for the back axle!

Next WALKs!

will that affect camber angle / trurning radius/ tyre wear ?

Really enjoyed reading the thread and looking forward to seeing the new car.And no im not in the least bit jealous :(

Do you know I'm not sure. Must be stiffer bushing, but will need to speak to APS to see what effect it has on geometry / wear. Supposedly dials out a good chunk of under steer.

Warren have you got the new one? If so where are the pics!!?

Nope, still waiting! Should be 5pm tonight, if not tomorrow night. A monumental wait for an ordinary car.

Hi Warren, fascinating thread!

Btw I have some 15mms for sale: http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/sale-w...m-hubcentric-trak-spacers-extended-bolts.html

Can let them go for £65 delivered

PM'd you with cash ready to go; thanks!!

ORDINARY!!!! i dont think so! lookin forward to seeing this new Black...

You and me both!

Ordinary fom the perspective it's an A3, which is basically a Golf /Leon / Octavia is a posh frock. Not rare would probably have been a better way of crouching it, but if it took this long hopefully it's built properly!!!

As I'll be picking up in the dark you'll have to wait for Panther pics until tomorrow unless it's in the collection area under LED lights when I pick it up.

15mm per wheel spacers now secured from Donny_DJ, so by end of week she'll have Richbrooke tax disc holder, 12/15mm front rear spacers, and a coat of Jetseal. Now to sort out when she goes to Daventry.

good work warren, i know i can trust you to take some good photos! lookin forward to it! well jealous! wish i had a new one to look forward to!

Just spoken to the dealer about the car coming today....

They're very busy in the workshop today and may not be able to get the car ready in time, so it may have to be tomorrow.

It's not like I haven't waited 6 months already, so can another day hurt. They have known for a good few days that tomorrow is quite inconvenient for me as I'm working nearly 80 miles from home, so to get back before closing time will be tough.

No issues with the sales bloke at all, he's doing all he can, but this is just dull, tedious and starting to feel less than 'premium'. I just want my ****** car!

If they are very busy in the workshop ask them why they are very busy doing other peoples work and not yours......So ****** typical audi !! We try and kid ourselves we are buying a premium brand and the service that goes with it but they make it very difficult to believe sometimes...
Good luck mate fingers crossed.

Supposedly as they're doing the trim swap today (from black gloss to alu), but this cannot be done until the interior has been scotchguarded as part of the 'finish pack' they offer. I've already told them not to clean it as I don't want swirl marks before I've even started out with it.

It's hideous knowing it's just up the road but yet you can't have it. The delivery date just seems to be eeking out and out and it's starting to do my head in.

Not good mate, must be very frustrating! Looking forward to seeing pics and watching the mods go on. Really need to update my own progress thread soon. Wish I could have gone for a new one but wouldn't have fancied a 6 month wait. I had to wait 3 months when I bought my Astra VXR new and that took long enough!

Finally, it's ready!!!!!!!!

Collecting at 6pm tonight. Supposedly door trims are hard to fit.

About time Warren! Enjoy it mate! I haven't had the weather to give it a proper detail and take some piccies with the sun out to show its panther side yet!
