Give people time to reply.

Depends which conversion your doing. If you want the same front end as mine 8P2 you will need a new bonnet, front bumper, new grille, new foglights, new foglights surround, s3 side skirts, s3 spoiler and complete s3 rear bumper. And buy a new S3 reinforcement bar or cut yours to get the bumper to fit.

If you want to do the 8P3 S3 conversion with new drl headlights. Have a quick search there loads of threads regarding that conversion and a part list that you will need. Basically a whole new front end a few people have done the conversion on here.

thanks for reply.
im new to these Audi's dont really know the difference, which one would this be as i think this looks great beleive it is a 3.2 aswell:

8P3 conversion look in the FAQ there a thread explaining the difference between the models and why we lot call them 8P1, 8P2 & 8P3.
And a thread telling you what parts you will need.

why would you want to make it look like something its not, coming from owning skylines another one of my dislikes was people badging their gts as a gtr.....its just not, appreciate what you have and if you want a particular model save and buy it

Far be it from me to criticize your motives for wanting to do this but I will say this; you're going to need some deep pockets, lot's of time, energy and patience. It's also well worth noting that at the end of it all you are going to be left with something thats six of one and half a dozen of the other. You won't get any of your cash back on the resale value so just make sure it's worth it before you embark on such a project.

I brought the 3.2Q as a project. but feel it looks like an old mans car in standard form, rather than putting a barry boy bodykit i thought the s3 replica route would be best,

I had the choice of an S3 or this and preffered this as in my eyes would have a better tuning potential, plus sounds awesome :)

:gaehn:

Agree on the badging as there nothing worse. But nothing wrong with using the kit. Plently of members have done the S3 and S-line conversion on lower spec models including myself S3 front end and 2011 A3 Black Edition/S-line rear.

I'm pretty sure some one would pay the extra for an S3 replica than do it themselfs.

Doesnt have better tuning potential in less you have a spare £8k+ to turbo or supercharge it.

But in regard to remap if you was thinking of going down that route the s3 is far more tuneable than the 3.2, I agree I much prefer the look of the s3 to the 3.2 shape you just need to find the right balance or you could be half way through and decide you have spent a lot of money already and would you prefer to buy an s3 to have the extra power and tuning capabilities. Anyway good luck look forward to seeing any pictures no matter what you do very nice car enjoy it.

Fair do's. The problem with replicas is that...well they are replicas. Nobody ever said that a copy had to be worse than the original but I'm not sure about stripping away the identity of 3.2Q in favour of it looking like an S3. Concentrate on what you love about the car already as you mentioned above :) There are better routes to go down rather than chucking a load of plastic at it!

i was deciding between the S3 and the 3.2 and felt the money i would save on buying the 3.2 could then be spent on a turbo conversion :)
have been looking about and seems the US is best place to buy the kit?

sorry to be a complete pain but has anyone got a link to the thread about what parts are needed for the 8P3 i can't find it.

It's a nice idea mate but if you wanted a turbocharged car at the end of it you should have gone S3 all day long!

I don't agree Ash - maybe a few hundred quid but not in the £K's

I think all of us can see where you was going with this the price comparison between buying a 3.2 and a s3 is a lot of money and fair play your looking at spending your money on a turbo or whatever takes your fancy to bring the bhp up, all we are saying is that you will spend a lot of money and time on the conversion. What you have makes more sense spend the money you saved on the power side then if you ever want to sell, sell it as a classic 3.2 v6 Quattro with extra gains.

The 3.2 is a bit like a wiser, more gentrified cousin to the S3. It's more relaxed, lower key etc.

Basically, I'm saying that a 3.2 has street cred of its own and personally I'd look to update the look of it with nice 8P2 S-Line adornments - but not the S3's kit.

Tyson, let's be honest. You've got a great looking front end there mate.... I seriously wouldn't bother with an S3 conversion for the reasons explained below. I'd spend your hard-earned on tweaking the engine (remap, induction) and uprated suspension (coilovers, spacers, anti-roll bars) rather than making the car look like something it aint.
You'll find S3 bodykitted A3's are normally ones that have been Cat D/C write offs anyway - just look on eBay.

i went for the A3 over the S3 as i prefer the V6 soundtrack but the S3 is much easier and cheaper to tune,i keep thinking about a turbo conversion but for the price of the turbo conversion and other items such as clutch/brakes etc i can buy a 500+ bhp skyline or sell the A3 and put the turbo conv money together and but an RS4

to be honest it was this video that persuaded me to get the 3.2 . childish i know!

Audi S3 800 HP.avi - YouTube

obviously that sort of power would be unreliable and alot of money but surely 500-600hp is dooable?

This is the lot I'd go to in the uk

R32 Turbo Kits, JBS 3.2 24V V6 Turbo Kits - JBS

save your money and buy an S3!!!

To bring you back to earth, with a bit of a thump, the 380hp kit is £11k! Your then adding on another £3.4k for 440hp and that doesn't include labour.

EDIT: Select Vehicle - JBS

650hp kit = £21k+!

I bought mine q3.2 as cat d. Had not much damage, i only had to buy new fuel pump as it was stripped for some reason.

Anyway I wanted to do s3 conversion Because I need to fix bumper and bonnet, got few dents and scratches, but after looking into whole thing, the amount of work to source parts and do whole lot isn't not worth it as much, and like others suggest doing conversion wont put highier value on car, not as much as you will pay for it.

I decided to repaint current split bumper, fix bonnet and will keep it as it is. Its sport with votex body kit so not the worst looking, s3 defo looks better but q3.2 has it's soul....

There is some nice looking 8p1s and 8p2s here.

this is a project car, ive got a daily runabout just wanted something different to start a project, i would really like to make it look like an S3 have had a quote on a spray job, just need the bits Audi has told me i need the 2 wings in order for the front bumper to fit correctly? is this right as i cant see any difference in the wings

Tyson dont be put of by anyone's opinions, do as you see fit mate, if you want to make it look like an S3 2009 onwards then go for it.

Are you looking to do this yourself or need someone to do for you, if latter send me a PM.

Wings are different, lock carrier, bumper, hinges, lights, bonnet, bonnet lock, lock cable, numerous things, plus Jan brings mot rules that requires levelling systems & headlight washers, so these will need fitting, plus all the electronics of newer/added modules & wiring, all of which I do for other members.

Have a look at Sarah A3's build thread, she did a brilliant job.

I might sell my whole s3 8p2 front end because I may be going facelift. I'd be looking about 1.5k. It's all silver not one scratch with bi xenon headlamps. So. Bonnet bumper wings headlamps fogs grills. Fog grills headlamp washers. Wing mirrors ( elec folding auto dim).

If you do sell id be interested in your bi xenons :)
