Can anybody tell me where I can expect to find the horn on my 2003 A3 TDi Sport? It's stopped working so will have to investigate why, and it would be a great help if I could go straight to it rather than stripping god knows how many parts off just trying to find the damn thing!

the link does not work, any more pics?

still need to know the location of the horn? anyone?

Not funny, need to know the real location of the horn, the one where the sound comes from!

ps44u - lighten up mate !! You won't make many friends or get much help on here with that attitude.

The two horns are still in the same place that RS_Cosworth told you in post #7 !!

thanks for that, are there two of them? at either side? thanks for your help

Mike i have lightened up, im just so frustrated with this horn, its just not working and im trying to get to the cause of it, cheers mike

Ads wots up wiv ya, its a bit childish to dislike all of my posts, you dont understand how frustrated i am, got to many things goin on, i just want get things done yh, i know you just wanted to have a joke and a laugh ok you win haha, cos when i saw that pic i did laugh myself!

One at each side but you only need to check one. Both will not have become faulty at the same time.

You have no doubt checked the fuses so it must be the wiring or the airbag switch. If you can get the car scanned easily it will tell you the problem.

Look for somebody local to you in the 'VCDS' user section who will help.

so do i have to unclip the grill with the foglight in? or is the whole bumper coming off?

Without meaning to sound even more childish.... you started the 'disliking'.

You say you found the pic funny so why get all menstrual about it then??

As mike said, chill a bit, i was only pulling your leg mate, its how we roll. :friends:

Unclip the foglight grille and you will see the horn. If you can get under the car and remove the lower engine cover then all will become clear and it will be easier to fix.

Mike thanks for all your help, respect. ill update tomorrow when i have a look at it, its wet and dark outside now, cheers

LMFAO had me lol

got to many things goin on

You have many things going on that arent anybodies fault on here, you have an issue that many people will help you with, but we also like to smile at least once every millenium, so relax, take the advice on board, report back what you've found then by process of elimination we can potentially find the issue for you.

its how we roll. :friends:

Exactly :)

Anyway, you do realise Ads has tendencies, especially for Gyms.

Back to horns, if both of them are faulty, then I atm dont think its the horns at fault unless the wiring to them have both been damaged somehow, ideally you would be best to have a scan done by someone local if there are no obvious signs of damage to the area/parts/wiring & given they're hidden behind the grills & recessed so they shouldnt get damaged by big road bumps, I'm leading towards fuse or relay.

There is a relay for horn above drivers footwell, small rectangular on the relay plate, maybe different for your engine code/year, but worth a check for any build up or corrosion on all connection points including connectors to the horns.

Had a look myself, could not see anything wrong with them, been to mechanic who spent a while searching for the problem, and his conclusion is that the wiring for the horns has been somehow 'disconnected', i told him thats a bit obvious, going to see an auto electrician on monday, will update then.

and i also have a tendency for gym:yum:lol

Just have a go yourself, check the relays above footwell, could even remove, stick 12v across terminals to see if relays are activating ok.

I had an issue with a steering module that always made the damn horn go of when plugged in, had to change the module which inturn fixed the horn.
