Prawn and BigAls A3 Track Car

Love this! Where is the carbon bonnet from? Not seen any other except yours.

The speed of the air at that point on boost, it seems unlikely its going to take that route

Looks more a noise maker than anything else but if the exhaust gas is getting backed up from a restrictive exhaust system (as the blurb on the site suggests) then some will bleed out of this valve being the path of least resistance and fluid dynamics being what they are etc...

noisy-horrible

like unsilenced screamer pipe

not track friendly given the nanny nature of neighbours to circuits these days

Looks horrid to me! I wouldn't fancy it at all. Surely a well designed system will give you all the power you need and a sensible level of sound?

The system on the A3 at the moment is perfectly free flowing, and only makes 86dBa on the sound check at Combe.

After the hybrid goes on, and we have crazy power, next years plans will include some lightweight 8x17'' ProRace 1.2 wheels, a step up in tyre size from 225-45-17 to 235-40-17, and some stickier tyres than the current RS-R's

I'd also like to get the Defcon caster inserts for the wishbone bushes to increase things there, and perhaps have the rear tracking sorted out by way of Shims.

I think there's SO much more to come from the car, but I'm seriously happy with how its going so far!

Who, having knowingly bought a car by a race circuit, then complain about the noise from the race circuit....

Charlie Uniform November Tangos IMO.

Some tracks up the noise limit in the week when people are at work and lower it at weekend too.

But yeah Welly sums it up quite well.

New wheels bought!

Current TT rims : 13.5Kg per rim

New rims: 8Kg per rim!

Result :)

Any guesses?

I'm not ruining it for Prawn, but lets just let it be said that I wanted this brand of wheels before he did so when I get a set I'm not getting them because he has them haha!

Team Dynamics Pro race 1.2's?

Team Dynamics Pro race 1.2's?

They were the original plan, and we were all set to go with pro Race 1.2's, but these came along, and they're about £200 per set more to buy new, and 1kg per rim lighter than the Pro Race, and at the price they were, we couldn't resist!

I've gone all Jap!

Rota Force:

17x8 ET35, 5x100, so absolutely perfect for the A3, and just 8Kg per rim, so even lighter than Team Dynamics in the same size :)

They're a bit different on an A3 too, which I always like

Good choice prawn, they do look nice

Glad you getting rid of the audi wheels as they actually weight a ton

yup, they're SOOOOO heavy it's unreal.

they will be going on the daily with some cheap tyres as winter wheels I think

Sounds good,I'm keeping my tt,s on for winter time then swapping them for my bbs rc041. Such a difference in weight its crazy

Was going to get the same on the A4 at some point. But the drift version..

Is there a noticeable difference taking 5.5kg off each corner?

Wheel weight should make a huge difference, it'll ride better, corner better, accelerate better, and suffer less from torque steer!

Plus, it'll look proper cool on some multi spoke rotas!

Thanks Karl :)

That yellow S3 belong to Lizard_Racing on here, I believe it's a 600bhp+ R32 turbo lump in it!

The Rotas do look AWESOME don't they?

Do I keep them Bronze? or satin black for the track car? 3 are bronze, and one is black currently, so I need to paint either 1 or 3 of them!

NICE! Bronze may look cool but satin black would be better IMO.

...are they 18"s on the yellow S3, they look tasty!

Ill throw up pics of both when tehy arrive fellas,

The ones in the yellow S3 in the pic are 9x18, hence the hugeness! Too heavy for me though :p

Yep... after my run in with Bill's Lupo today I am almost tempted to try and shed some weight from the S3 myself!!... fecking poxy 970 odd kg's shoebox... 315bhp per tonne that thing (give or take)

Oh yeah, bills hot that new hybrid turbo on there now hanst he?may have to upgrade...

Sounds interesting Paul,

How does the Lupo, once moving, compare to your S3?

Not driven it mapped as yet so I have no direct comparison and no idea what power I am running atm as I took the SEM off since you were in the car and I had the last dyno run...

Not using it as excuse of course as the Lupo is a power to weight monster!...

Will try and compare graphs next time I am over the workshop which tbh will not be until the dyno day next weekend...

I think mine will have more torque for longer so in a straight line I should be able to shake the Lupo eventually and obviously off the line with a launch I should be able to put enough distance between us that it will make it interesting however the tussle was a rolling start in first gear so while the Lupo didn't hook up properly until third gear it was still up my chuff until a sweeping corner where my heavier S3 was a bit more composed...

Its a good example of power to weight advantages and I have no doubt that once your hybrid is on it will be a monster!
