Help..... DRL+Side lights

I know this has been covered a lot but i can't seem to find any links to DRL bulbs or side lights. I want them both white, with no error code showing up. Anyone got any links where i can just click buy? Be much appriciated as i've spend about 30minutes searching through previous posts on the matter but none of the links are up to date.

look up Piaa for halogen DRLs that are white... be warned some of these have blown up in headlight

These are the best and brightest white 501 sidelight LED's i've found and i've been using them for a fair few years.

I'm sure i've read somewhere that the MTEC ones have exploded on people? I could be wrong though, might be a different manufacture, in which case i appologise.

Oh I'm not sure of that but I've had them in for about 2 months now and all OK. When the sidelights are on it also lights the bulb up to give a nice blue tint again.

Think i'll give them a try, just hope they don't explode. I imagine there a pain to clean out if they do. They dont send up error codes do they? Tried a few on my S3 now and just want some that work with out my car beeping at me with error's.

On what itwasntme has just said I recommend not listing to a word I've said lol. After I read the link purchasing the LED ones is a better option. Have you got any pictures of them in and on please?

I've ordered the one's that itwasntme187 posted. Oh and i do appologise for posting on two threads but i was in a awful mood due to having spend a fair amount on side lights and drl's and none of them having worked!!

for those who have problem with error with the drl bulb. use vagcome
goto central electroinc or central convience
coding
long code helper
set headlight to Bixenon with LED DRL

no more warning.

I think u need to reset the error code first to reset it so it will not show warning.

now the drl stay on when headlight is on. they dim down

i prefer the DRL to switch off when the headlights come on... looks very nice when i am driving in and out of a tunnel with the auto lights as i go in with the DRL, they then turn off and the xenons turn on. then the xenons switch off and the drls will come back on.

as i have LED sidelights the inner lamp part is still lit up

Yeah I prefer them to operate as the manufacturer intended them to...it was never my intention to bypass the error warning system entirely.

I have the MTEC bulbs in at the moment and they look pretty good for what they are/what they cost. I will be really pi55ed though if they explode in the headlamp but AFIAK this has only happened to a couple of members with PIAA. If they burn out after 2 months like itwasntme then fair enough they are what they are on to something else.

I'd be willing to give the HID Direct combo posted above a go...still lacking enthusiasm from the LED saga though if i'm honest

The drl do dim down when headlight is on. it actually dimes down close to the brightness of the City light.

If they are just standard bulbs not leds you won't get errors.

Hi, can this drl led lambs work continusly? What I mean. Is it possible to very get high temperature so cause the plastic of the lights to be melt? Is anyone use the drl led lights for many hour? Now I use a PIAA mirror white bulp.

i have spoken to HIDs Direct and told them that it still gives errors and was advised to use the resistors. there are other threads where people have tried to install other LED bulbs without the resistors but still got errors

So the ERROR FREE BULBS as described is a myth.

Thanks for your advice. I have already tried a DRL bulb no canbus and I had the error. The shop that I tried the led give it to me to try it, in order to see if I has an Error, so I didn't buy them.

Can't wait for mine to come through now so i can get them fitted. I have one question though, did you have to pull the wire out from the cover? Or is there wires somewhere out of the covers? Not too keen on trapping the wires between the covers if you get me?

no the resistor comes with a bit of wire each end and then a scotch lock to attach it to the drl positive and negative. just connected the resistor with the scotch lock and left the resistor wire trapped under the cap. its quiet a thick wire with a hardened cover on it so the resistor does not swing around as you would expect with normal wires, instead it stays put where you put it. no hard done to the car or the resistor

ash can the wires not be extended so the resistor can be placed somewhere that it will stay put?

What if i used bullet connectors and extended the wiring that way if they fail i dont have to fight with scotch locks and put a new resistor in. I just get a new bullet connector on the new resistor and swap over. These resistors and leds do play up and need to be replaced after a while just makes life easier.

i duno about these resistors failing... they look pretty damn big and the wiring is solid!

as for extending them i dont see an issue with that. the DRlL bulb wire does come out a bit when you change over the bulbs so i dont see the need myself but if you want to make more work for yourself your welcome.

you could try and bolt the resistor down to something but i prefer it where it is. at least this way i can see it and remove it easily if anything does go wrong with it and its not going to melt anything as its not physically touching anything else. it doesnt swing about and touch things mate, so its not like it isnt staying put.

the wire on the end of my resistors are like coat hanger wire that bend when applied pressure to but otherwise stay where they are.

I'm having a problem, bought the side lights and drl's from the web site you told me with then resistors and when i put the side light in it still threw up a error code and i'm no expert but i haven't a clue how i'm meant to fit the resistors either. Got a feeling i'm meant to cut into the wires which really worries me as i haven't the 1st idea what i'm doing!!

mate what year car do you have? i take it the lights are the same as mine?

the sidelights wont give you errors, it would be the DRL lights... and if you are worried to cut into the wires then it sounds like you have not connected it and thats the reason for the errors.

use one end of the resistor to the positive wire of the DRL bulb and the other to the negative. simples!

2007 Audi s3. I didn't get the side light from t8rups, wish i had of done now. Got the ones rob-quattro suggested, which throw up a error code another £10 down the drain! I haven't fitted the resistor yet as i really haven't a clue how to cut into wires and it rather worries me if it goes wrong.

well as it says in the video, the resistor will be connected into the scotch lock on one groove, then just put one of the DRL wires through the other groove and use a set of pliers to lock down the metal tab that connects the 2 wires together, its really simple way of joining 2 wires together...
or if you really want you could split the wires and solder it but i wouldnt recommend that.

its not going to cut the wires if you do it right, and there isnt much wrong that can be done with these.
