After updating some of my apps are not working properly.
My view on the matter is, apple throw in a couple of things to reel you in but behind it all they are only trying to keep the ball in their court.
I wish I could downgrade.

I've been using it since Friday, no issues really.

Twitter did crash a couple of times but works perfectly now.

Some of the new features are really useful.

Can't fault it.

Its ok on mine, but then again I bought the 4s on Friday. Where's 1animal1, because I just wanna say;

HEY!! I HAVE AN iPHONE 4S!! and it had a fight with a Galaxy S2 outside the shop and kicked its arris ;)

Sky+ app is all messed up and another app called dessid which you could get free wifi, that won't even open now.

haha ;)

I read this purely by chance, how exactly did it manage that, it has less powerful hardware :)

Its a bag of ****e.

I updated my missis's ipod and lost her 3500 songs, oooppss!

After spending 2 hours messing around i managed to recover almost 2500, but have lost over 1000 songs due to IOS5 saying it was backing everything up and then crashing.

Next time i will wait a week before i update so they can fix the bugs, luckily on my iphone it worked ok.

Sounds like when Microsoft brought out Vista to update XP!

Vista = Bag O Sh*te

Its pretty awesome to be fair! Some really good features.

and the reason some of your apps don't work is because the creator of the app hasn't made a ios5 compatible version, I had that issue with some apps, and then updated apps in appstore and voila!

happened when going to ios3 4 and now 5.. so you can't say its more cons that pro's

Some apps have stopped working and need to be fixed, developers have had access to ios5 for months so there is little excuse. It's up to individual company's to whether they fix there apps or not. Every OS has to move on and developers cannot sit back and expect backward compatible OS or expect the OS companies to test their apps.

However if it's there own apps that don't work then they deserve both barrels!

Vista was just a debug release of windows 7, they left all the debug code in and handed that cr@p out to the world, then 2 years later they remove all the debug, fix some of the bugs , add a few features and rename it to windows 7. Will be interesting to see how windows 8 turns out?

I was thinking of updating my ipad to OS5, might just wait a while.

I've also update my iPad and no problems, couple of apps did not work so they were deleted.

There is definitely issues, the free wifi app that won't open will not be updated because apple removed it from app store.
But I paid for it so I obviously want a working version.
And battery is draining a bit faster even after switching off all notice and location services.
Sure there are some nice extras but wasn't expecting some pitfalls aswell.

Do it, really are no issues with it.

+1 on iPad

Strangely iPhone 4 caused a few challenges for me, but because all data was backed up was fine in the end. No app issues to date either.

Working well on my 4 and iPad 2. Yeah some developers need to pull their fingers out and update scripts, but iOS is superb. Swipe gestures on the iPad are well received, plus the ability to split the virtual keyboard is a stroke of genius...

Now I am just agonising on buying a 4s or just wait for the 5....* ponders*

I bought the 4s on Friday and its a nice phone. SIRI is brilliant. I said 'Good Morning' to it this morning to see what would happen, and the blokes voice said good morning back. So I said 'How are you?' and he replied with, 'I am well, thank you for asking' lol.
Me and the wife were talking about films last night and Michael Caine came up and she asked how old he is, I said I'll ask SIRI. So i asked it and I didn't just get the age, I got 78 years, 7 months and 2 days lol.

By the time my contract runs out in Dec '12, I would think the 5 would be out by then, and my 4 will still be worth a good few hundred quid to sell on

Guy in front of me when waiting to get one said his mate at work had pre-ordered 9 of the 64gb ones, £700 each, to sell on ebay worldwide.

I've tried to update it loads of times now and it keeps crashing during the download and update so i've left it for now! Infact I haven't even got that far as it crashing on the new iTunes download which I need to get ios5... brilliant.. lol

Are you running x64 mate?

Well battery life with having so many more features and the hardware not changing is bound to decrease.

However your just completely missing the point. Apple have not created this "wifi app" you keep mentioning so I doubt they would build their whole operating system around this app... The developer has stopped support for it if it has been removed. Anyway just set your wifi settings to "ask to join networks" and then you won't need this app.

Anybody else noticed that when in iChat/iMessage if you have been sent a link which also has other text in the message you can't just copy the link?
You can copy the entire message, but in iOS4 you could hold your finger on the link and would be able to copy the link on its own.

P*sses me off because I frequently forward links I receive by sms by copying and pasting them into an email and then sending.
Now I've gotta copy the entire message, paste it into an email and delete the rest of the text I don't want to send.

Upgraded my iPhone 4 yesterday and it completed the update within about 30 minutes. Ain't found any problems yet apart from a few of my apps didn't reinstall. No big issue really

I have heard and read mixed reviews on the ios 5 update and think its time i upgraded my ipad. I just hope it works when i have finished.

i tried to update my 3gs on the ios5 and my phone or rather my sim is no longer compatible with my i phone. doesnt even recognise it as my phne on itunes. god knows if i've lost everything that was on my phone. Have gone to orange and theyve said it is a fault with iphone sofware so now trying to book an appoitment with the "genuius'" but all appointments seemto be booked till like thursday. Im now using a brick and not happy!!

I successfully upgraded my ipad last night. No problems at all and it runs so much quicker.

Won't let me input any thing into the calender as there's no + button to press.

Go into Settings - iCloud - and then switch Calendar 'off' then 'on' again (or vice versa if already 'off').

Then check your calendar again and the + button should be back.

I'm unable to upgrade my iPhone 4 or iPad 2 to Ios5 to date... For some reason I'm having trouble loading the new apple mobile device support and application support onto my 64bit windows 7 laptop, iTunes installs but won't run without them. It all worked fine until I tried to upgrade now I can't even go back to the previous software, even after deleting every program and cleaning the registry. I'm really disappointed, as it's the first conflict iv had with any apple product. Going to backup and restore my laptop and hope that works, but shouldn't really be getting any issues on a laptop not even a year old.

Boohoohoohoohoo

I'm running windows7 on 2 different laptops, one is over a year old, the other is under, they both installed the latest iTunes with no problems at all.

alright dont rub it in :sorry:

are they 64 bit? as the problems seem to be coming from 64 bit systems.

honestly im not being a reetard - iv upgraded my itunes dosens of times before with no problems/conflicts

I'm not sure if I'm being honest, I'm guessing no, cos I don't know what 64bit is! lol

apps not working is not apples fault, the developers are given plenty of time and support from apple to make their apps ios5 compatible and then release them

itunes and the iphone / ipod / ipad are windows 64 compatable, millions of people have upgraded their ios, so of course the odd person will get a problem, there are MILLIONS of software / hardware combinations, sadly apple can not test them all!

I assume apple know what a 64 bit sytem is seeing the Macbook Pro i have is running Lion and everything thing else is in 64 bit mode.

It's impossible to test every possible combo, they have to then tackle bits as and when they find them, assuming it's their fault, not the developers

Heh I'm in no way am I suggesting that everyone with 64 bit systems are having problems. I expect it's very few but I'm one of them. Il give it a bit to see if a later release sorts it, if not il probably have to wipe my laptop and start again, could quite easily be a windows update error.

Phew, after a system restore, turned out it was windows firewall screwing things up. Not running ios5 on iPhone and iPad... And what an anti climax

I am not putting it on my iphone as my mate has it and I cannot think of any of the so called upgrades that I would use.

The one new feature that i was going to make use of is location based reminders, but Apple has missed a trick with this BIG TIME.
Such a good idea in theory but in practice they've failed.
Apple sold it like you'd be able to set a reminder to go off when you arrive or leave at a specific location, but it just doesn't work as its not GPS based even though the phone has GPS. The app just uses the mobile network to decide where you are and that is only accurate up to about a mile in some cases.
Also you can't set it to remind you by manually entering a postcode, you have to have the address stored in your contacts before you can select it.

Very poor effort.
