Removing Dash Airbag Light Bulb?

Guys,

Have had an airbag light on for months now in the car and I finally got the part fitted which apparently was causing it, passenger side airbag crash sensor.

Once fitted the light has remained on much to my annoyance. An auto spark i spoke to said the problem could be in the loom and so could be costly gettin it fixed. I dont want to waste anymore money trying to get it fixed with no guarantee it will be resolved.

I want to now pull the bulb out and be done with it.

Is it easy enough getting at the bulb and removing it? Will it throw up any codes once the bulb is out?

Did he clear the fault if not the light will stay on .Diagnostics should say where the fault is.We have a Bora which has a fault in the wiring to the drivers seat bag which is is not worth fixing so I have blanked of the light with a small sticky pad so its no bother now .Dont think its practical to discnnect in the cluster

its not usaly the crash sensor its the wires
theres a quick and simple fix for this
as above did he clear the code ?
what was the fault code ?
u cant pull the bulb if you realy have to cover it with black tape

Isnt it a MOT failure for the airbag test light not to illumiate when the ignition is first turned on ? My last A4 saloon had the same fault, was the wiring loom to the drivers seat, cost about £40 to fix.

Gibonz, you do realise your Airbags are disabled while the light is on? You are in the same boat as me but getting it fixed properly would be my advice. I also certainly don't want to pay out £500+ for Audi to replace the wiring in the seat etc. But I guess we are stuck between a rock & ..

Is it true that the light will be an MOT failure from April 2012?

Yes they are going to add a whole host of updates and more failure items to the mot test, including the air bag light ,
Good point by mike b , did you clear the faults down after the sensor was fitted? Did you inspect the wiring and multiplug to the sensor?, Im personally not a fan of covering up the light or taking bulbs out , this is my opinion.

On the bora this would mean taking the seat off cos theres no easy access underneath and I assume the other bags would function. I will have to consider this but failing this will Mot before the rule comes in to give time

vag com it mate, could be that the code needs clearing, i can clear it of your close to Northampton?
