No iPhone 5 this year, instead an iPhone 4s

Screen res on the first Galaxy was arguably the same as the 4's screen, i remember reading loads of reviews at the time! the G2 has a better one than the G1 so I doubt its worse resolution

How can resolution be "arguably the same?" It either is or it isn't. That is a fact!

Fair play, I just know at the time the reviews couldn't pull them apart, both had strengths and weaknesses....both were completely different designs, therefore resolution wasnt the only factor.....tbh I don't know the res off the top of my head, couldn't be ***** to search for it :)

As it happens, they're not similar at all. The iPhone4 has a much higher screen resolution than the Galaxy2. I'm not trying to kick off a what's better argument, just saying.

Galaxy2

Screen Resolution 800x480
Total Pixels on Screen 384,000

iPhone4

Screen Resolution 960x640
Total Pixels on Screen 614,400

haha check the reviews at the time, the Galaxy wasnt half as good as the iphone, it was 50/50 and i spent ages researching....that doesnt really matter though, iphone4S sucks balls when compared to the specs on the G2.... go swing lol

everyone with Iphone 4`s can`t believe how much better the screen is on the S2. So whatever the res they all agree the S2 is clearer

Lol. 'Everyone' eh?

The GS2 might have better hardware but is the software as good? I honestly don't know.

I have an iphone 3G which is why I'm upgrading to the 4s. I probably wouldn't bother upgrading from a 4.

I don't believe android marketplace (or whatever its called) is anywhere near as good as the app store.

actually all but one but he even thinks his old megan shaking its *** is the best thing on the road so the iphone suits him :)
even the hardcore apple fans have to admit it, it shouts at you side by side playing the same media

I tell people after a new phone if they want to be told what to do pick a Iphone if they want to to be in control get a android

You mean you can **** around with it more.

People always say this but I don't really see why people feel more in control of the android, if you are familiar with iTunes you can do what you want on the iPhone.

haha I love how the Iphone still has its audience captivated even though it is already out of date before its release.... we're not sat here dreaming this matey, its FACT...the iphone 4S is rubbish compared to the G2 - and as for software, yes like iphone it will have its plus's and minus's - is the iphone store better, yep, but its the only thing that is better and Android isnt that far off now, its open software to developers so will grow much faster and it has its momentum.

Most of you iphone lovers really have never tried anything else, be a devil...come into the new world :)

Having said that!! Looking at the way Apple has captivated its audience by providing a one stop solution meaning you HAVE to use all their products even when they aren't the best anymore, you have to applaud the marketting genuis Steve Jobs, he's done an amazing jobs captivating your minds :)

BTW you can sync your itunes upto the Galaxy software lol

I'm pmsl at this thread.

1animal1, you'd think an iphone had murdered all your family lol :)

Horses for courses. Personally I have a windows phone (HTC HD7) and it is absolutely pants. Worst phone and os on the planet, ever. Just thought I'd throw that in.

So. Whats my next phone gonna be? Nokia 3310

Just read this...Benchmarks clock iPhone 4S' A5 CPU at 800MHz, show major GPU upgrade over iPhone 4 -- Engadget seems the iphone 4s is nearly two times better than the GS2 in terms of JavaScript performance.

Surely it the iPhone4 and not the 4s it was up against?

Jojo, regardless of my sarcasm mate and despite the tests in the link above, the fact is the 4S is less powerful than the G2, the specs are there for all to see :)

I owned a Samsung phone once, and even if the new one could suck your balls I wouldn't have another as it put me off completely.

Irrespective of 'which is best' (define best?? best for who, best for what??), I've chosen a path that mean the iPhone provides broader integration and compatibility within a collective set up of kit within my home. I couldn't give a flying f@@k which people think is best / worst as I'm not in competition with anyone, it's a means to an end. I just want what works for me and delivers the basics of what I need. Could I give a damn whether iPhone is best or not in anyone elses 'personal' opinion? Not a rats **** :moa:

This really, I never really cared which phone is better, but I do know that most of my close friends and family have iPhones, so easier to interact with each other, though it's sad we would all turn up for lunch and whip out our phones to be anti-social.

Who's actually going to get the iPhone 4S? And when do we think the (hopefully more innovating) iPhone 5 will be out?

My contract is up in the next couple of months and there a part of me which thinks I should wait for the 5 seeing as how long the providers are making minimum term contracts these days..

Depends on how you see it, my mate's contract was due for renewal, so he upgraded to 4S on a new 12 month contract, phone cost him £235 I think, but he got £270 for his iPhone4, so he thought it was worth it, plus he reckon he can get his upgrade to 5 in 10 months time, if it actually comes out!?

question you could ask is how innovative its going to be? Apple I recall are still using the exact same txt system they used on the original Iphone aren't they? a part of the phone that is in constant use on most peoples surely?

Also the last two Ihpones have all been released beneath at least one or two of the current marketted phones in spec, you have to question to the longevity of their fan base - they aren't the leaders anymore unfortunately, they are just a cult - you will see a mssive change in the next few years, be it android or Microsofts own attempt which is athering pace fast

Actually Tim, the 'Siri' feature is quite novel on the 4S over a standard 4! I'm not going out to buy a 4S for this feature alone, but I gave it a try on my mates 4S, it really is pretty good!

Na i agree fella, it is good.... but it isnt flawless and the debate I had with a few at work today was that it is still just a gimmick......i cant see me honestly wanting voice activation as the next generation feature on my phone. It just isnt something that you would use day in day out....

got voice activation on the galaxy s2 anyway. u can tell it to find u a map on the GPS or look up an internet site or phone someone or write you texts for you. Its not perfect but its a feature that isnt new anyway.

8310 had voice activation did it not? lol

Dave, yeah it does mate....ive not used it a great deal to be honest, really cannot see the need for it, all the hassle of learning what to say - a voice activation is only as good as its database, and ive no doubt sirius has a much better database, but not conclusive...i cant see how it can be! therefore it wont be fool proof, therefore ill use my phone as i always have, and i suspect most 4S customers will do the same.

Interesting fact, iphone has 18% market share, Android has 50%.....tell me who's store is going to be bigger in the not too distant future :)

Funnily enough i was at work on friday changing my keyboards and downloading comletely new ones to personalise my S2...sumat I dont beleive the iphone lets you do, does it? :)

Jojo - haha cheers bud, ive heard of a few of these instances, a mate was playing a game the other night and pressed too hard and broke his screen, another lass just got a 4S and dropped it on her desk, it broke!! ya pays ya money haha - its al gonna end in tears :)

One other thing too, regards the clocking speeds earlier up this post, regards the 4S versus the S2....I challenge you to google all the clocking websites and see how well the 4S compares across the piste, I think you'l find the S2 tears it to shreds on almost everything

I would be contacting lawyers for you and tell them the iPhone has destroyed your life, you may get some compensation from Apple or at least a free iPhone.....:yahoo:
