Audi a3 8p 2.0 tdi 140 sport Wrong, Eibach springs fitted????

Hi guys, i recently purchased what i thought was a set of Eibach pro sportline lowering springs for a 2.0 tdi but i have just found out that rom the part number on the box it states E10-15-007-02-22 which is actually for the 1.9TDI! Trouble is ive already fitted the springs, took me ages!! and they look great too! I cant believe this has happend!Will it do the car a great deal of damage?? Any help with this would be much appreciated.

You do also realise that you don't have the Sportline springs either.... you have the Pro-kit which is not as low.
Although yours may be sitting a little bit lower because you are using springs for the lighter 1.9 tdi on your heavier 2.0 tdi.

ah right, so is this not the 35mm lowering springs? Also thing ive got another issue! when i saw the 4 springs i wasnt sure what was for front or rear so when i took the original springs out i compared them to the new set, The taller ones were on the rear, so i put the taller ones on the rear but they seemed to have more coils, and i put the coils at the front which looked like the coils that were already on the front, Please tell me i have put these springs on the right way round??? The number on the rear springs are 11 1500701HA, cant see the front ones?

Yep, don't worry, you've got them the correct way around. The front springs end 02VA.

And yep, they are the 30mm lowering springs, the Sportlines are 50mm.

Phew!!! well mine is the sport, so i should notice a difference even with these springs? ive not changed the dampers so i think the sportlines might be a bit harsh and too low for me, trouble is just now the front looks great but the rear is sitting as high as it was when the sport springs were on to be honest, will they settle down? Ive only got 1/4 of a tank of fuel in there, would it go down with the weight of the fuel if i fill it? I hope it settles because it does look higher on the rear! I also noticed when i changed the springs, there wasnt really that much difference with the old springs, they looked about the same hight except the spring had more coils in it. Will this be lower than the s line with this kit on?

To be honest mate, I'm not surprised your car is sitting higher at the back. As said, you've got springs which are for a lighter engine, therefore your front is going to be lower than it should be on those springs, but your rear is going to be pretty much at the right height for the springs.

Even if you bought the correct springs you would only see about a 15mm drop over your sport springs, which isn't much.
I've got a Sport also and went for the lower Sportline springs, which lower mine by about 35mm at the front and 25mm at the rear. I've kept my original sport shocks and they are fine after the drop.

If I were you I would get the correct springs for your car. Having your car's nose down too much is going to affect braking. Also, if the spring is too soft for the weight of your car you are going to experience more body roll which is going to affect handling etc.
As you fitted them yourself you can remove and sell them, and then fit the correct ones, and you shouldn't lose out on much money because you aren't paying labour.

Gutted! Well i only paid £70 for my springs so i guess i could sell them, So are your springs Eibach? are they lower than the 50mm H&R springs? Will the rear settle at all or is that it?

Yeah mine are Eibach Sportlines. They are the same as H&R 50mm at the front and 10mm less at the back.
The reason eibach designed the springs to lower the front slightly more than the rear is to even up the front and rear arch gaps. A3s sit slightly higher at the front as standard.

Springs usually settle a further 5-10mm after about a thousand miles or so, but as you've got the incorrect springs on yours its anybody's guess if they'll drop further.

Another queston though, some other spring kits that you can buy state will fit 1.9tdi and 2.0tdi, its like putting them in the same catagory, so if you can get some spring kits that are suitable or both engines then should the eibach kit not be the same? Have you got any pictures of your car on your sprtline springs? I dont want my car to be too low. Might bite the bullet and buy some sportlines if they dont mke my car too low. I live on country roads and they are full of pot holes!

Eibach springs are a progressive design. This means that part of the spring has a "softer" or more loosely wound coil and part of it is harder or more tightly wound.
This gives a more comfortable feel over smaller bumps and a firmer ride over harsher roads and when driving hard.
I would guess that if your engine is too heavy for a set of eibachs then it will compress the more loosely wound part of the spring straight away which isn't what you want. Other springs that are wound the same throughout probably wouldn't suffer from this so they will be able to take different weight engines within reason.

Some excellent info there and also the fact that cheaper springs are likely to have had less testing done, hence they have less overheads etc so can charge a bit less. I always recommend Eibach or H&R springs.

I have just double checked on our Eibach database and you are correct the springs you have are for a 1.9 TDI, 1.4 TSI, 1.6 & 2.0 FSI. All lighter than the 2.0 TDI. I guess they will be ok and just sit slightly lower due to the extra weight but they are not right for your car. I would want to change them personally to be honest with you.

Im deffo going to change them, really gutted about that tbh. Although i guess all is not lost because to be honest i was looking for a bigger drop on the rear so mabe i should just invest in some sportlines. Your car looks ace ads!! really nice height. The pro kit that you have fitted at the moment are 5mm lower than s-line and about 5mm HIGHER than S3.
So basically, it'll look roughly the same as both because 5mm either way is going to be negligible.

Where your springs will differ, especially to s-line springs, is in the comfort of the ride.
S-line is notoriously firm. Some say overly firm. Eibachs are softer.
H&R are pretty firm also.

I find that the sportlines are even more comfortable than sport springs over good to average roads.
