water leak or coolant ingress.
Only ideas I got.
Its trying to find it.

I use to get this issue in the back of my Avant.
I had 2 rubber gromits missing from the boot area.
I replaced theses put in some of them bags you get with IT kit to help stop the moisture and it helped.

thanks Scott, will have a good look around the car over the weekend to see if anything is missing

you may need to find a local holiday inn or a cheap B&B to stop this problem if you are making use of the extra doors on the sportback

Try changing the pollen filter.......it usually helps a very lot ! are you noticing a smell which lasts for a second or 2 just as you start the blowers?

my A3 avant was serviced only 2k ago, so would have thought the pollen filter was changed then, but will check it out.

holiday inn??? i'm more a hilton man myself :p

maybe take your car to a polish man and get him to wash it inside and out... do the windows... usually a £10 job... seemed to work on my A3 Avant :)

Shouldn't happen if you have the climate control on, mines on all the time and my car never steams up as the AC takes the moisture out of the air.

Oooohhh mine steam up at the weekends!!! lol!

seriously, maybe the inside of the glass needs a good clean.

Had the same problem, and like Aiden has said it was because my air-con was knackered.
If the air-con is working properly and not in Econ mode you shouldn't get steamy windows.

will get the ac on, need to check out the pollen filter, are hard to fit?
