S3 brakes and pads

Hi!
Very soon i will must replace the OEM discs and pads for my S3 8P2!
I will remap the car next year and now i was pleased with the OEM stuff and i will probably
stick with OEM discs and upgrade a better pads if there are one?!

What setup do you recommend and where to look for the best price?

If you are sticking with OEM kit then the OEM discs are fine, and some mate them up with EBC Brake Pads (Yellow for fast road, Red for General Use). Think these cause less brake dusting too.

e-bay or google them as cheapest prices vary by supplier depending on deals etc, but probably about £70 for pads, not sure about discs.

Oem are good but mine are very dusty.
They are ATE oem discs with ATE oem brake pads.

I did think about for ATE power discs and pads and ATE discs with ceramic pads!
Cata_adc are you satisfied with ATE? Better than OEM or not and what about squelling noise?,
cuz on OEM the noise is sometimes

Somebody pm'ed me and said go for EBC Turbo Groove Disc with yellow pads! What do you think Warren or anybody else?

EBC Yellow Stuff Pads !! I adore them! Quite a lot of brake dust and they are a very very hard pad but if you read the reviews it says it all. I've run them in everything I've had. Got them in my S3 brakes now Try not to buy cheap disc's either. Either standard or EBC again..

Yes i'm ok with the ATE.
No noise , good braking power, a little to much brake dust.

My few pence worth here....don't waste money on most oof those aftermarket pads.

I tried the EBC Red ones......squealed like pigs,and were no better than the OEM pads.

If you really want better brakes,put the money towards a proper kit.

Like i said,OEM discs and pads are very good i just want something that is the same quality or a little bit better!
I heard about the red stuff that they are very squealing.
I really dont want to spend to much money on the brake kit,not now (but absolutely when on stage3)!

Are you wise? They are cheap as chips!

I've never rated the EBC stuff and have tried to use Blackdiamond stuff if possible.
Certainly Blackdiamond Combi's with DS2500 pads have worked a treat before but with the S3 discs your kind of limited to choice.
I think tarox do some good grooved one for S3 but unsure about the prices.
AP do a 2-piece disc for £800 if your interested haha.

This is another area where you get what you pay for.....take a look at the brakes that most of us are using.....RS kits(Brembo),AP Racing,VWRacing,and Alcon.
Tarox .....I don't know anyone using them,and I know what more than a few race engineers would tell you....

I'm currently running EBC Yellowstuff with OEM discs and to be honest, I'm not overly impressed or happy with them.
I don't think the Yellowstuff have absolutely any bite in them.
It is a really progressive deceleration and do not instill confidence.
They feel very hard under the pedal.
I did a track day in them last week and thought they were rubbish!!!

May mate in his S3 is running Ferodo DS2500s and is very impressed.
I tried the DS2500s in another mate's R32 and couldn't believe the bite they had.

Others who are running Yellowstuff and are impressed with them, are you finding you have initial bite or like me, experience a progressive deceleration? Is this something you are after because i personally prefer some bite in my pads.

As I said,I tried the Redstuff pads as a stop-gap before a big brake kit,and I can honestly say that the initial bite was perhaps a little better,but as far as fade etc went,they were no better than the OEM pads,and the downsides of them(squealing,and lack of improved performance),I can see no reason to bother with them.
Currently I'm using DS2500 pads with a VWRacing brake kit......way better.

Try the EBC Yellowstuff pads with OEM discs and metallic brakelines. The OEM Discs are enough, and far away better than EBC discs, because these ones they get bended in the track days....(at least mine ones did, and I haven't had any problems with the OEM ones).
