Hey Guys,

I have been a lurker for a while now, and thought I'll post the conversion my car has gone through so far.

I bought the car back in June of this year, it was a standard 1.6 3Dr Ebony Black Audi A3, with everything as basic, from the cloth interior to the concert 2 head unit, with standard speakers.

The first mod i did was i tinted my car, got the Car tinted from Tint My Car in East London, got 20% at the back and 55% at the front i believe it was, they used LLumar Film and it has been great every since.

Next mod for me had to be the MY11 Rear Lights, searched the net for ages but just couldn't find them for the price i wanted, and then stumbled onto Nigel AKA NHN on the forums, and he sorted them out for a great price.

I highly recommend Nigel if you are looking for the lights, the price for a brand new pair i couldn't find anywhere.

After a few weeks pasted the Mod bug really hit and i wanted a S-Line conversion, and after quiet a few hours of reading i figured out that i needed.

-Single Grill Bonnet
-S-Line Bumper
-S-Line Grill
-Fog
-Fog Grill

Most of the info needed for the conversion with part numbers can be found in the following 2 threads.

-Conversion pre-facelift double grill bumper(2003-2005)to facelift S-line bumper
-My "SPORT" to "S-LINE+" Conversion *COMPLETED* (Part No's, Prices & Tips included)

It took another month or so to source all the parts for the car, for a good price.

Product, Sourced from, Price Paid
-Bonnet, Ebay, £110
-S Line grill, Ebay, £55
-S Line Bumper, Gumtree, £40
-Fog, Ebay, £25
-Fog Grills, Ebay, £18
-Rear Bumper, Ebay, £40

The main problem was all the parts weren't the same color as my car.

So i had a choice pay a body shop £600 to get the parts painted and sort out the doors and wings, or get the car wrapped.

I really wanted a Matte White car so i decided to i would get it wrapped when i save up enough.

A few weeks later i had the car booked into Total-Dynamic in Enfield to get the car done in Matte White, the roof in Matte Black and the Mirrors in Matte Black.

The result

I really need wheels for the car but couldn't afford the ones i wanted, so i went onto modding other bits.

Next in the list was changing the steering wheel, i wanted a leather 3 Spoke MF steering wheel, after stumbling across one on pistonheads for £120 i couldnt resist, got that fitted in by a local garage.

The one thing i wanted when i bought the car was leathers and i couldnt find one locally so i could pick them up, all the ones i saw were on ebay and quiet far away, until i found some on gumtree that came off a 07 plate A3 as i was told.

Haggled the garage down from £500 to £320 as they were dirty and needed a clean LOL.

I took it upon myself to get these fitted, after more reading online and help from a mate i got these fitted, it wasnt as hard as i thought, took the door cards out, front seats, rear seats, and then put the leathers in and bolted them on.

While i was doing the seats, i put on a new front Grill, i found a honeycomb one thanks to the classified links section above from ebay for £52 shipped and fitted this in on the same day, results are.

While i was working on the interior i thought i might as well change the lights inside to White LEDs, after being confused for ages and trying to work out what would work and what wouldnt and how i would do it etc, i stumbled unon a thread stating i needed canbus ready LED and t8ups supplied everything i wanted, the interior LED's along with the number plate ones, so i ordered some from him and the car looks amazing and is so much more brighter.

At the same time i changed my side lights to LED's(also supplied by t8ups) and my dipped and main beams to Philips Blue Vision Bulbs, which i got from powerbulbs online.

Installation guide for the interior lights i got from

Interior LED Package installed (PIC HEAVY!)

I thought that was the end of modding for me, until i came across some BBs 3.2 Ju was selling on the forums, i just couldnt say no as they were the ones i wanted and for a great price, even tho i was broke, so i bought them and got some tyres fitted for them today, here is how the A3 looks today.

The Car needs a clean tho, i will get better pics up once i have time to clean it.

I have 3 more mods im going to do to the car when i get more monies

-Rns-E MK2
-Rear Spoiler
-Side Skirts

Any other mods you think i should get??

Jay

Wow mate, hats off.
Great job on the conversion.
Completely different car.

As said above, needs a lowering!!
i would be doing this before anything else.
you have done a great job thus far, finish the looks off now!

Spot on Jay!

Totally transformed.

What back bumper is that? Think Sline, S3 or BE should be next on ur list, along with coilovers or lowering springs. :)

How bout,

LaminX
Mk 2 TT vents (or s3 vents, think Paddy may be selling some)
Dark headliner
Cruise control

Oh yeah, grill looks good too  lol

Excellent work mate. Brilliant write up too. :applaus:

Lowering should come right at the top of your 'to do' list.
I see you're based in London too. You should get yourself down to AMD Lakeside and either have some Eibach (50/40mm drop) springs fitted or some AP coilovers if you want to go lower. They are doing very good deals on both with fitting and laser alignment included.

Then second on your 'to do' list needs to be a rear s-line bumper or a facelift (09 onwards) rear bumper to even up your car.
You've got rid of the rub strips at the front but the rear still has them.
From the front your car looks like an s-line but from the rear it still looks like its a standard/sport A3.

Nice one though mate, i'm looking forward to seeing the progress.

:icon_thumright: good work mate
good write up too.

Like everyone said Lowering should be the first job to do next..

good work mate, as Ad says... Lower + rear bumper and youre there! :icon_thumright:

Wow Jay, well done mate! thats a massive transformation!
I also had my tints done at tint my ride in manor park!

Where abouts in east are you?

how much did the vinyl wrap set you back? do you have to declare that as a colour change?

agree with everyone else here... that car needs to be lowered even if its just a little bit (i know the state of east london roads), those new alloys are showing off too much arch gap.

also some lamin x light tint for the headlights to make it match up with the dark grill.
are you coming to ADI on saturday? there are a few of us heading up there from london

good work jay lowerage next then you can hit all the speed bumps in london

every day i find a new one lol

its worse when you are trying to avoid the traffic and end up on the back roads with loads of stupidly high speed bumps...
its handy to know the routes but it just hurts soo much!

I was told it was a 05 plate s line rear bumper, only difference between that and my old one it has space for a twin exhaust.

I will be getting a 08+ rear bumper or S3 bumper when i find one for the right price.

Will defo get lamin-x at the front but i love the rear lights as they are.

I will defo get a new rear bumper, just waiting for a few auctions to end and see if i can find anything on gumtree.

But i will get the bumper and rear spoiler fitted at the same time, so it will be about a month before that gets worked on.

Coilovers were on my list just forgot to add them lool, i will give AMD a call and see what they say, my mate just got some done from elite in rainham are they any good?

Jay

looking good mate, as said just needs lowering and a facelift s-line rear bumper to finish it off!

Yeah, MY11 rear lights are perfect as is.

I live in manor park lool, about 5 mins from tint my car, that's why i went to them.

The wrap cost me £980 i believe it was in total, but that did include the inner door trims, the door trims was a extra £200-£250, but since im going for the white/black combo, it actually goes really well.

I didn't declare it to DVLA as it is classified as a temp change and can be removed at any time, so it doesn't have to be declared, i told my insurance company.

And have been stopped by police after the change and they didn't mention the color, just that my number plate wasn't on in the correct place, kept it on the dash till my pressed plates come in.

Coilovers is on my to do list next, but the roads in east have so many speed humps, i would be so ****** off going over them.

I would love to come, but i have a wedding to go to on Saturday, and cant skip it as its a close relatives.

Lamin X im gonna order today from the site and fit it on this week hopefully.

Can i ask how much you paid for the wrap?

It probably is an 05 "s-line" bumper. Only problem is.... the 05 s-line bumpers are exactly the same as standard and sport bumpers.
They changed to the newer style in very late 05, but mainly in 06.
The extra exhaust space you've got now just means it has a double pipe diffuser attached to the bumper rather than a single pipe one.

AMD will supply and fit etc AP coilovers for £600.
That's a very good price when you consider the coilovers themself are almost £500. So you'd be paying an extra £100 for fitting and alignment. Bargain!

mate as its East London driving i would recommend springs and not coils... i was going to go down the coil route but since i drive all over London i am staying with the springs for a better ride and comfort over looks... spend too much time in my car for me to then fit coils and break my spine.

mate if you are interested at any point in fitting some xenons or bi-xenons let me know and i can get them sorted for you. remember if you are getting lamin x for your current headlights and then change later you will need to get another set of the lamin for the new headlights.

I second this.
Mine is dropped 50mm at the front and 40mm at the back and I'm just about ok driving about east london.
Any lower and I'd be ******! (and so would my car).

I've caught a couple of speedbumps already by trying to drive with my wheels either side of the hump. I've now learnt that its two wheels on and two wheels off FTW.

hey Jay, your not the Jay that runs Jay's Lounge in Manor park are you???

Yup that's me.

What a small world, did you come down anytime?

New lounge will be opening in mile end/whitechapel by the end of the month or start of next.

That why i had second thoughts about it, but i will get either springs or coilovers, gonna mull it over for a few days before i order them

Jay, sorry mate couldnt answer the phone, back at work so back on here!

It is a small world!

so where you planning on opening this new lounge? there is already a few around the area as it is....

they are loads in that area but i think my unique shisha will draw the customers in, plus i have my customer base from my previous lounge so it should b ok

Looks good Jay. Well done:thumbsup:
I'd also add rear bumper to the list and lowering springs or coilovers will look perfect then.

lower it on coilovers (speak to n8 for v-maxx coilovers im running them sooo comfortable) and a rear bumper too

Problem will coilovers is i live in a area with so many speed humps, it will just annoy me, i might stick to some springs for now, and maybe get coilovers later

Just a quick update, some idiot decided to do this to my car

Its going to the wrap shop on tuesday, costing me £170 to redo the whole new bonnet.

I hate idiots and van driver that dont know what they are doing

Bump for an epic conversion!

That's some change mate, any new mods? Lowered yet?? Updated pics.

I was curious about this 'lounge' that you run so I did a quick google search for it and had to lmfao @ the first result that came up (pun intended :haha: )

Looks good...hope it's been hit with the lowering stick!

was quite dark when i left and didnt really manage to get a decent shot as his car was facing the wrong way but here you go anyway

nice car mate! where did you get the grill from if you don't mind me asking?

Nice one mate! Excellent work done!

My A3 colour is dolphin grey with the same double-grill on the front!

However a few weeks ago some stupid van driver decided to leave their tool-box on my bonnet and left some dents on my passenger door, however got quote for the repaint and dents to be removed for 450, which is quite a lot...

So was thinking to maybe get the dents removed for 1/3 of the quote and get the car wrapped in white but was just wondering how much would that cost!

Obviously whoever does this sort of modifications as you may planned to keep the car for the next few years at least...

Finally do you mind let us know the wrap total cost and how much you've spent in total!?!

Thanks

The wrap in total was £970 that didnt include the door trims, or the inside of the bonnet.

I got it done from a company called Total-Dynamic in Enfield, i highly recomend they work, have had the wrap nearly a year and no problems thus far.

I havent done any more mods since the last update, just havent had the time to look after it as i would like, mainly due to the lounge, but since that is not closed, i shall be back on the modding bug,

Really like the progress you made, but it could use some coilovers :)

Say what now, I got quoted nearly the double here locally in Belgium. How long did they had the car? It's worth considering a trip
