Evening all, quite new to this as only bought my S3 last Weekend! What Colour do you reckon looks best on the Silver S3? looking for something to stand out! :haha: Cheers

Red, Blue or possibly yellow.
Standard claipers aren't anything to shout about though, especially the rear.
Mine are blue though so that gets my vote

Cheers Guys, think i will have to paint them rather than spray them, What Paint do u recommend painting them with? unfortunately they are currently the standard callipers, but will have to do something about that soon :icon_thumright:

I used hammerite spray (smooth red) here are the results:

when did you spray those? is the paint holding up well? I have some of those sitting in the garage at the moment and i need to get them repainted really. Did you refurbish them too?

Most high temperature paints are fine but you can get a little kit off ebay that also has brake dust removal spray and a paint brush.
You can get all that seperatly though if you know the right places.

have also used hammerite brush on rather than spray - no problems with them so far (done 6 months ago)

I sprayed them approx 8 months ago and they still look as good as the day they were sprayed. No i didn't fully refurb the as in the seals and pistons they've just had a lick of paint.

I dully refurbed mine.. Sandblasted, new seals all round, fresh coat of silver high temp then 3 coats of high temp lacquer. Brake dust and other grime just falls off once water hits it. I was able to take my time over this though as i had a set of R32s waiting to go on.

i did sweeta fa to clean/dedust/derust etc i just used brush on hammerite and all is good.

Ive done it for years never bothered with the spray and always lasted a good year or 2 before needing a quick going over again

anyone with an opinion as to the caliper colour best suited to a red S3 with Brembo calipers? I'm thinking either red, black or yellow...

I was about to message you yesterday about your rear calipers after see you, and you posted this pic up! :)

;) I done my rears with hammerite red smooth also but i brushed them and I found it messier and harder to get it even than when I sprayed the fronts.

Did you laquare them after the stickers went on??

No imo there is no need, i've done 2 sets of these the first were the brembos on my missus car I took them back to the bare metal with nitromors, painted them and lacquered the (white) decals after about 3 months the high temp lacquer I used started to discolour making the decal look yellowy, to change the decal i'd have to sand back the lacquer enough to remove it.

So on mine I just painted the caliper and once dried applied the decal, the main thing is to ensure it is fully stuck down before removing the backing paper. My decals are black but they've been on for about 8months now with no probs, also if they did ever mess up I can just peel them off and replace them without sanding/respraying.

Is your car more of a show car? i only ask as mine will see the odd track day, So will be put throught a lot of heat

No mate, I haven't done any trackdays but i'm not a sunday driver:)

I used normal car paint but primed them first. Chose a graphite grey off the shelf at halfrauds.

Been done 6 years now no problems
