Replacement cost for Inner CV Joint & Boot/ Axle- 2003 A4 1.9TDI Avant auto

Hi,

Can anyone help me here please? My garage advises me that the inner cv joint needs to be replaced but Audi Ireland say the whole drive shaft must be replaced at a cost €441.67 incl vat + fitting. Anyone know of a cheaper option please?

2003 A4 Avant, 130bhp 1.9tdi Auto

Inner cv is knackered according to the mechanic. Audi tell me you can't replace the inner cv joint, you have to replace the whole drive Shaft. I have no clue so have to take their word on it. Any recommendations for sourcing a cheaper option? Thanks

Get one off ebay, there are plenty of cars being broken.

Unless you dont have the cash I would not buy s/hand cos you would be takinga risk.The only other option would be to source a local scrapper who wuold let you check it out and give some sort of warranty.Then you would need to be able to fit or arrange fitting.It seems a car worth maintaining so I would follow Audi advice cos it may be a unit that needs to be matched but I would still like to know their reasons
