TURNING OFF SERVICE INDICATOR...HOW DO YOU DO IT ????

Hello all, i did an oil and fliter change on my car on sunday as it had been churping away @ me for a 1000 miles or so, am i right in thinking that theres a process that involves using the bottons on the speedo ( the 6 that sit just under the rev counter and speedo ) that turns off the service indicator sign that pops up in the D.I.S when you start the car.????
